Could you be a victim of these terrifying smartphone hacks?

A couple weeks back, CBS’s 60 Minutes did a fascinating piece on smartphone hacking that’s simply astounding.

Hackers were able to monitor Congressman Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) simply by having his phone number.  They were able to track his movements, record his phone calls, and view his contacts.  All this was done from thousands of miles away in a discrete office in Germany.  After 60 Minutes played back a recording of his phone call, Congressman Lieu said, “First, it’s really creepy.  And second, it makes me angry.”

The exploits the hackers found were actually in the mobile networks and not the smartphone itself, so it doesn’t matter whether you have an iPhone or an Android phone, you might be vulnerable to the hacks.

If you are concerned about your privacy, you should look into the Lookout App or the best antivirus apps for smartphones.
