Hello TheDroidGuy!! I need help. I have had for the past 2 days the worst time. First I replaced my car’s brake pads thinking I can repair each one thing at a time but the lug nuts were really rusty so one snapped while inside the car :/. So I have to get it drilled out today (keep with me because I’m not done yet) but just when I thought “Hey I can fix that easily”, I was also told I need new rotor!
I am calling for your help because right after I spent money on my car my Samsung Galaxy phone started acting up. My keyboard won’t come up. It keeps giving me an error that there is something wrong with the Galaxy keyboard. It also says my time and date are not right so it won’t let me use Google and on every Facebook status is says “just now”.
I don’t want to spend money because I am a broke College kid and I spent a lot of money on my car already and my car has already made me stressed out enough. I need my phone to stay in contact with my family plus new jobs which might lead to a better salary then what I’m getting now.

Solution: Hi Caitlyn. Did you install anything (like an app or app or system update) before noticing the problem on the keyboard? If you did, your first task is to wipe the cache partition. For minor firmware-related issues brought by apps and firmware updates, wiping the cache partition often does the trick. It’s because this procedure will literally delete all cached files in the cache partition, which will force the system to create new ones during the next boot up. Here’s how:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
- When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
- Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
- Press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the keyboard continues to fail and other apps are still unusable, make sure that you delete their cache and data before trying them again. Please follow the steps below. You have to do these steps for every app you’re having trouble with.
- Go to Settings.
- Proceed to Applications.
- Select Application Manager.
- Scroll to the right and tap All tab.
- Choose the name of the app that has been going rogue.
- From there, you will see the Clear Cache and Clear Data buttons.
Most app glitches should be fixed by any of these two procedures but in the event that nothing changes still, consider doing a factory reset (steps provided below).
Hi. I hope you can help me because I’m really at a loss. My new phone was just beyond its warranty but with 10 months left in my contract when the screen randomly one day was just snow like an old TV. I can’t afford a new phone as I’m off work for an injury, and can barely afford the plan but I have to finish the remaining contract or I owe them a lot.
The phone was working fine and was in my pocket; I had just texted my wife. When she texted back I got a vibrate and pulled my phone out and when I hit the power button the screen was all snow. The phone appears to still be working because if I get a text it vibrates but the screen only shows snow followed by a black screen with a very faint hint of backlight bleed.
I tried the typical resets and charging but those don’t change anything. I can’t do anything else because from the moment the screen turns on it is snow so it is impossible to navigate at all.
Also the USB connector won’t work normally: it charges but if I plug it into my computer it is recognized as my phone but shows as an empty drive that cannot be accessed.
I found on some forums that the USB ribbon and PCB would likely be the issue so I ordered one and it didn’t change anything, so I ordered another and still no change.
I had a repair shop say he thought he could fix it but want $130 and no guarantee that it could be fixed.
Can you help me with this? Would it be the LCD assembly?

Solution: Hi David. From what we gather from your problem description, it looks like you have a screen assembly problem at hand. That the phone appears to vibrate when you receive a text message is an indicator of an on-going hardware issue. Unfortunately, there’s no software solution for the problem. You need to have the phone repaired by a qualified technician. If the issue is isolated to the screen or one of its components, there’s a good chance that a repair can revive the device. However, as with any hardware repair, a complete fix is never guaranteed in this case. Doing electronics repair is tricky and may not always resolve the problem totally. If you want to gamble with it, investing $130 for a repair sounds like a better option compared to getting a brand new device.
Hello TheDroidGuy. There is some problem with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. My memory was full from a long time as I just had a baby so I take a lot of pictures of him. My phone was saying storage full from a long time. But one day before it was on 5% battery, I put it on charge but it started making sounds that headphones disconnected, connected, disconnected. I took off the charger and it switched off because of really low battery. But then a blue screen showed up saying “Downloading. Do not turn off the target.”
I searched your page and then pressed and held Power and Home buttons along with volume up and down together at the same time. It restarted. The phone switched on but immediately turned off because of critically low battery. I put it on charge again and an empty battery sign came on the screen but it didn’t start charging. Since then it’s not charging. Please tell me the solution. Thank you! — Tahira
Solution: Hi Tahira. If your phone has stopped charging for no apparent reason, one of these factors may be to blame:
- faulty charger
- charging port malfunction
- bad USB cable
- damaged battery
The first thing that you can do is to leave the phone charged for at least 30 minutes. It may take some time for a fully depleted battery to be charged.
You can also try another known, working Samsung charger to see if the USB cable and/or charger is defective. At times, a bad wall outlet can provide unstable power to the device so try to check if charging works on a different outlet at your house.
If the phone is still not charging, your best bet is to have it checked by Samsung or by any reputable repair shop so they can diagnose the true hardware issue.
I was on the phone to someone and after the call ended my recent apps button wouldn’t work and the inside of my front camera lens is foggy. The only thing I did was cry a bit on my phone so that’s likely to be the issue, although I don’t understand how the little about of liquid that touched it has actually done any harm. I find it quite ridiculous. I’ve gotten more water on it in the past and it has been fine so I don’t know if this is actually the problem (except it’s fairly obvious the condensation on the inside of my front camera is there because of this).
I have tried turning it on and off, deleted any recent apps and tried anything else the Internet suggested but nothing is helping.

Solution: Hi Lauren. Electronics and liquid (except the special type of alcohol for cleaning electronic components), however tiny the amount, don’t mix. If a tear happened to fall to an unsealed port of the phone, there’s a chance that it may have damaged some components or circuit inside. If the phone was working normally (recent apps button was working and there was no condensation on the front camera) before the call, then you can assume that the internal components or main board of the device had been exposed to liquid. Your best course of action is to call Samsung so they can check the phone. If the phone is still under warranty, you may want to avoid mentioning that the phone may not be working properly due to liquid exposure. Let Samsung check the phone and see if they can fix the issue for you.
After my carrier forced an update to 6.0.1, the auto sync feature no longer works. Specifically, Calendar, Contacts and Gmail all fail during sync. It will do that or the sync icon will never go away or complete. As my device is critical to my work this is a major concern. The Sync doesn’t work in either direction. Meaning that if I add an event to my Calendar via the Web interface it doesn’t show on my device or vice versa. Same for my contacts.
I have tried clearing the cache of my device. Removing and then re-adding my Google account with a restart in between. None of which has resolved my issues.
These issues were not ever present prior to the update. So, is there a way to fix these? I’d like to avoid a factory reset if possible.

Solution: Hi JW. As Android Marshmallow is new and developing at this time, there can be bugs that escape developers’ attention. The interaction of the new operating system with both outdated and updated first and third party apps can also lead to unforeseen issues. Aside from wiping the cache partition, doing a factory reset is the only effective “fix” that we can recommend at this time for any Marshmallow-related issues. For reference, here are the steps on how to do it:
- Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
- Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
- When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
- Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
- Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
- Press the Volume Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
- After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
I am running Android 5.0.1 on Galaxy S6 that Sprint has unlocked for use with a GSM SIM card in Europe (Telenor in Hungary). I have a valid contract plan with data from Telenor. Once in Hungary, I put the Telenor SIM card in the SIM slot, turned on the phone, went to Settings >Connections > More networks> Mobile networks >Network mode > and selected GSM/UMTS, then Settings >Connections > More networks> Mobile networks >Network mode > Network operators > Search and selected Telenor.
After 3 minutes, the system returned the message: “Unable to connect”.
Following a suggestion from Sprint > Support > Community at

Re: APN Settings and International SIM, I did Settings >Connections > More networks> Mobile networks > Access point names > and hit the “+” sign in top right corner of page. Then I filled in the APN settings as suggested on Telenor’s website as follows:
Name: Telenor Online
APN type: default
However, the APN page in Lollipop does not give me an option to Save or OK or Accept or Continue on this page. I can only hit the return softkey at the bottom right of the phone, next to the Home key. That brings me back to the Access Point Names page, with no option to save the previously entered info there either.
I can repeat the cycle many times, but I cannot get the settings to stick, consequently, I cannot connect.
What am I missing or doing wrong? Please help, I do need to make this phone work over here. As the frustrated postings on Sprint Community’s discussion forum shows, many other people are fighting the same issue. Thanks in advance for your help. — Gyula
Solution: Hi Gyula. We’d recommend that you contact the local wireless carrier (Telenor) first so they can give you direct assistance. There may be some provisioning issues on your account that they missed and only they can help you with that.
Another thing that you want to check with Telenor is hardware compatibility. There’s a chance that your phone may not be compatible with their spectrum bands, which means that your device operates on a frequency that Telenor is not using. In this case, there’s nothing that you can do but to buy a different device if you want to continue to use their service.
