In this latest installment of the series we will be dealing with the Galaxy S6 slow charging issue & other related problems. When using the fast charger of the phone the device should be able to charge up to 35 percent of its battery capacity from 0 percent in 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes though, this isn’t the case as it takes quite longer to charge.This and other related issues is what we will be trying to resolve today.

S6 Slow Charging
Problem: Hello,When I charge my galaxy s6 with the original charger, but aftermarket cable it charges fine, but if I use the original cable it gives a “slow charging” warning and rarely charges past 70%. I do have a mophie case on my phone and am not sure if that’s affecting it at all. I’ve tried charging both independently, and together and it refuses to work, but if I switch out the original cable for a cheap one, nice one, long or short one it works perfectly. This includes ALL “original” (white Samsung) cables. The solution may seem to be simple (buy a new cable) but as I’m traveling this isn’t as available an option as I would like, and it also bothers me that this problem exists. If there’s anything you can do to help please let me know
Solution: It appears in this case that the original cable that came with your phone has a problem .The most likely reason behind this is that there may be some loose wires in this cable which is usually the case if it is constantly coiled or bent. The best solution so far in this case is to use a different charging cable.
If you don’t have access to another cable then you need to do some experimenting with your old cable.
- Try to look for the best position of the charging cable where it charges your phone without any issues.
- Clean the metal contacts of the charging cable. Presence of dirt in the contacts can usually cause charging problems.
S6 Does Not Charge
Problem: Hi, my phone has a charging problem. It is not charging at all. I tried with another charger and charging on the computer also did soft reset but nothing helped. At the moment the battery died and I cnnot turn the phone on.It was responding when I was holding tthe Power Button and Volume Down Button but it was 0% battery so it was turning off immediately… It also happened few months ago but then soft reset and charging with the computer helped. Now I tried everything and no luck… I will be very grateful if you can help me. Thank you
Solution: There are only a few options left for you to do in this case. First, try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. The presence of dirt or foreign matter in this port can prevent the phone from charging. You should also try using a different charging cord and charger when charging your phone.
If the above steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Some possible reasons why this is happening include
- The battery is already defective
- A faulty power IC
- Bad phone charging port
S6 Battery Drain Issue After Software Update
Problem: Ever since I did this update it says system update something in the app Manager in the settings and my battery life has went to crap for example my battery life was at 59 and then as I was on the phone no more than 2 seconds and went from 59 to 39 percent and then as I sit there and watch my phone to figure out what my phone is doing I seen it jump 1% every minute as it would count down I drain my phone completely died recharge my phone oh yeah my phone doesn’t even last 2 hours I’m fully charged now since its update what can you do to help me thank you
Solution: If this issue only occured right after the software update then it’s possible that data from the old software version is still in your phone. This data normally gets deleted during the update process however there are cases when it gets left behind. When this happens it causes a conflict with the new software version causing all sorts of issues including this one. To resolve this problem I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs after a reset I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center as you may need to get a new battery.
S6 Suddenly Does Not Charge
Problem: Earlier today my phone was charging just fine, and now it won’t charge at all. It is dead now, and when I do put it on the charger the energy sign will come on but it won’t charge. What do i do?
Solution: Try using a different charger when charging your phone ( this includes a different charging cord and charging block). Make sure to connect the phone to the charger for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
You should also try cleaning the charging port of your phone as a dirty port can also prevent the phone from charging. Use a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol to clean the port.
If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related issue.
S6 Battery Drains Fast
Problem: I barely used my phone at work. In the evening when I go to leave my battery will say about 55%. I’ll try to use Facebook or YouTube and my phone will freeze. Refuse to lock or unlock. It will power cycle. Then come on with “battery critically low” at either 2%, 1% or 0%. It’s only 8 months old but it’s driving me crazy. It’s happened every day for the last 5 days.
Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode first then see if the issue still occurs. This process will delete the temporary data in your phone which if corrupt can cause this problem.
Another factor you should check is if an app you installed is causing this problem. Start your phone in Safe Mode then observe if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is very likely to be caused by an app you downloaded to your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
One final troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this procedure.
If the above steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as the battery may already be weak.
S6 Intermittent Charging
Problem: When power cord is plugged in it keeps starts and stops charging a lot then starts again. Sometimes won’t charge at all. The phone is noticing at all when this is happening. Very frustrating!
Solution: This issue is usually caused by a defective charging cord or a dirty phone charging port. Try using a new charging cord when charging the phone. You should also clean the phone’s charging port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
S6 Gets Very Hot
Problem: Phone is SUPER hot. It’s become more hot for the last two weeks. I’ve deleted the few extra apps I’ve downloaded, cleared my cache,.. last night I plugged it in as the battery was at like 43%, and drops easily even when nothing is open (THAT I KNOW OF) unplugged it a couple hours later, was at 100%. Woke up 8 hours later and and it was completely dead. I’ve used different chargers, etc. It’s hot all the time now, even with the cover off. Please tell me what to do to help fix this!!! Solution: Can you still turn on your phone? If you can then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install anything in your phone yet. Observe first if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center as this could already be a hardware related issue.
