Note 4 Gets Laggy When Opening Apps

Problem: Hey there! Don’t know why but my phone isn’t working at all. It gets laggy when trying to open some Apps. For example, I try opening Facebook and it just get freezed for a while and then the phone restarts itself randomly. Sometimes the phone can’t even restart and just stay in the “SAMSUNG” initial logo, so therefore I have to extract the battery in order to make it work. I tried with a hard reset and it didn’t work! So maybe you might help me. I’ll be waiting for your answer. Thank you

Solution: When you did the hard reset did you observe if the issue still occurred with no apps installed in your phone yet? If you immediately installed your apps then try doing the reset again but this time don’t install your apps just yet after the reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this procedure.

Another possible factor that can cause this issue is the microSD card. If your phone has a card installed and it has some corrupt sectors then your phone will lag while trying to access the data stored in the card. Try removing this card ( if you have one installed) then check if the issue still occurs.

Note 4 Freezes Then Restarts

Problem: My phone will freeze up, then sometimes it will restart. Other times it will just sit for awhile and I can’t do anything. Until it unfreezes. When I have it on the charger it’ll power on and off. And when I’m scrolling, it’ll also freeze for a bit. Or when I’m typing. Overall it freezes and restarts often.

Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting I would suggest that you backup your phone data first then follow the steps below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data of the phone software which if corrupt can cause this type of problem.
  • Remove the microSD card if your card has one installed. If this card has some corrupt sectors it can cause several issues, including the one you are experiencing with your phone right now.
  • Start your phone in Safe Mode. This is to check if a third party app is causing the problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.
  • Do a factory reset.
  • Try replacing your phone battery. If your battery is not providing the correct voltage anymore the phone may restart or freeze.

If after performing the troubleshooting steps above the issue still occurs then you should have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Note 4 Slows Down

Problem: My phone has been slowing down a lot, so I decided to factory reset my phone. It all went well until it decided it wants to be even slower than before, when I try to open messages it just either doesn’t load at all or if it does it would take ages to finish a sentence as it lags too much. That might have something to do with a failed sms backup. Also Google Play doesn’t want to update my apps anymore; so I tried cleaning the cache, which did not help. Overall the phone is really slow and laggy and can’t wait for note 6 and hope it will be far  better in the long run than this. Thanks

Solution: Does the slow issue occur right after the reset even when no apps are installed yet? If it does then you should try removing the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. Aside from the microSd card the phone software itself could be causing this issue. Try to check if your phone is running on the latest software version. If it isn’t then I suggest you update the phone software either through the OTA method or by connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running.

Now, if you performed a factory reset then installed your favorite apps after and then you noticed that the issue reappears then there’s a possibility that an app you installed is causing the problem. You will need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

Note 4 Freezes

Problem: my phone is freezing every time I using on text, calls, pictures etc on every action i due on my phone.

Solution: There are two things that you can do for this type of issue. First, try to check if the problem is caused by some form of corrupt temporary data in your phone software by wiping the cache partition of your device from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Take note that the presence of a microSD card in your phone can also cause this type of problem especially if the card has some bad sectors. You should also try to remove this card if your phone has one installed then check if the issue occurs.

Note 4 Freezes Then Turns Off

Problem: My phone started freezing then knocked itself off over and over I done a full factory reset thinking it may of been corrupt data or app but the problem is getting worse now it just knocks off doesn’t restart or even switch back on sometimes is it completely broken.

Solution: Have you checked if the issue occurs even when your phone is connected to its wall charger? If it doesn’t then you should try replacing the phone battery. If it still occurs when connected to its wall charger then there’s a chance that this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Freezes Then Reboots

Problem: phone freezes, reboots by itself many times, sometimes to a black screen. Boot in recovery mode.

I’ve tried:

  • clear cache
  • soft reset
  • hard reset
  • removing SD card
  • removing SIM card
  • You name it, I’ve tried it.

It works sometimes and other times not.

Solution: Since you already performed most of the troubleshooting steps aimed to check if the issue is caused by a problem with the phone software then this could already be a hardware related issue.

You can however try to flash the phone with an updated stock firmware. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online. If the issue still occurs after this then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Takes Too Long To Wake From Standby

Problem: when i want to wake up the phone from standby it takes long time to wake. Apps are very slow on it. I have this intervoip i use often. It is very very slow on the system.  I get mad. Please, let me know what to do to accelerate it.  But if that is the nature of the phone tell me let me just throw it into the trash. Thank you so much for being there to help me

Solution: This slow issue can usually be caused by too much cached data in your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your device from the recovery mode then check if this solves the issue. If the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
