Note 4 Error After Software Update
Problem: After they did a software update on my phone I have been having this issue on my phone. Every few minutes this error will pop up on my phone (SIM CARD REMOVED UNABLE TO DETECT YOUR SIM CARD. YOUR DEVICE WILL RESTART TO CHECK FOR YOUR SIM CARD. )and force me to restart my phone cause it can not find my sim card. It does this at least 10 times a day. Please help me fix this.
Solution: When issues occur on a device after a software update the culprit is usually the old software data that has not been completely removed. Since this issue occured right after you updated your phone I suggest you try to backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try to do the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Remove the SIM from your phone. Check for any signs of dirt on the metal contacts. If necessary clean the contacts using a pencil eraser.
- Take out the SIM from your phone. Cut a piece of paper the same size as your SIM then place it on top of the SIM ( on the part where there is NO gold contact) when you insert it to your phone. This makes the connection between the SIM and SIM contacts tight.
- If you have access to a different SIM then try inserting it in your device.
Note 4 Google Voice Not Working In LTE After Software Update
Problem: I just purchased one of these phones so couple of weeks ago and the Google voice was working just fine whether I was in Wi-Fi or LTE areas. Then I got an update notification to update the phones software which I did and now my Google Voice will not work in LTE areas. The same thing happened with my Nexus 5 and I had to uninstall the last update because that’s what the screw-up was. So I need to know if it’s the same deal with this phone and do I need to do a factory reset or is there another way of uninstalling the latest update? Thanks a lot.
Solution: In this case a factory reset is the most logical troubleshooting step to perform since the problem occurred after a software update. Just make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding with this.
Note 4 Unlocked Not Getting Software Updates
Problem: I bought an unlocked ATT Note 4 and use it on Ting. I can’t get updates. when you say put in ATT Sim, just put back Sim that came with phone, or do I have to activate it with ATT? Thanks
Solution: The SIM card that you insert should be an active AT&T SIM. This way the AT&T servers will be able to see your phone which in return will allow you access to the software update.
Note 4 Error When Installing Software Update
Problem: I downloaded the recent update and it shows 0.0% installation and comes up with an error (showing the droid laying down) I can’t get it to do anything else. I’ve tried to restart it, pulled the battery, and still nothing. HEEELLLPPPP!
Related Problem: It keeps telling me i have updates on my system, i start the download. When it gets to the installing part it gives error msg, it says the install process was interrupted.
Solution: If the update downloads normally and the issue occurs in the installation part then this could be caused by insufficient internal storage space. Try to free up at least 7GB of internal storage space on your device. You can do this by uninstalling certain apps, clearing the cache of the phone, transferring your data from the internal storage to the microSD, and wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
If the update is still unable to instal after this then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset download the update again and install it.
Note 4 Restarts Randomly After Software Update
Problem: After I upgraded to lollipop(5.1.1), my phone sometimes automatically restarts itself. Note: Please this doesn’t happen always. Why i am concerned is because this problem never happened when I was using kitkat(4.4.4)
Solution: Some data from the old software version may still be in your phone and is now causing a conflict with the new software version. This is usually the number one suspect in cases where issues occur after a software update. What you need to do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Not Getting Software Update
Problem: Whenever i try to update my system it shows registering but on the the next moment it show processing field and show then a process blinks in the notification bar connecting server but in a sec it vanish.. Can you please help me with this problem i want to update my system
Solution: Try getting the update using a different Wi-Fi connection to check if the problem is connection related. If the same issue occurs then you should try to update your phone using Kies or Smart Switch. Just connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running. The software will then check if an update is available and will instruct you on how to get the update.
If your phone still does not update using Kies then you will need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check for the update using the OTA method or Kies.
Take note that in order for your phone to get the official update it must not be rooted and it must still be running on its original stock firmware.
Note 4 Opens Google Play Store Randomly
Problem: My issue has been the same from the very beginning. My phone will often open playstore and apps I do not have on my phone. This happens when I’m first choosing sms or simply on awake of phone. At first it was often but now it’s just plain bothersome. I’m very angry and disappointed with Samsung that this is an ongoing unresolved issue and they don’t seem to care.
Solution: This issue is usually caused by some form of malware or adware that is present in your phone. There are two ways to resolve this problem. First, you can download a security app from the Google Play Store and let it scan your device. If it spots any potential threat then follow the instructions of the app on how to remove it.
The second option is in my opinion the best since it will eliminate any malware or adware in your phone that is casing this issue. In this troubleshooting step you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done download your apps again from the Google Play Store.
