Note 4 Calls On Its Own

Problem: My phone calls people on its own.  When I finish a call and hang up,, within 2 seconds, the phone is dialing the last phone number again.  This happens almost every time i finish a call and hang up.  My friend has the Note 4 also and said her phone calls people back after she hangs up also.

Related Problem: When I make a call, through the registry menu and I hang down through the red button the call ends. Then I lock down the screen and suddenly I hear dialing. So the phone itself makes a call to a randomly chosen person from my phonebook. What can be the problem and how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. To be sure try to manually check for any update and install it if necessary.

Follow the steps listed below to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Clear the cache and data of the phone app from the application manager. In some cases, corrupt temporary data of the phone app can cause this problem and getting rid of the temporary data of the app works.
  • Go to Settings – Motion – Direct call then make sure call currently displayed on screen is “off”
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then a third party app cold be causing this. Find out what this app is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This clears the temporary data of the phone system and usually works in this case.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Touch Tone Not Working

Problem: When calling companies and asked to pick or enter a number or extension the company’s system does not hear the entry.

Related Problem: When I make a call, and the system I’ve called says “press 1 for X, press 2 for Y, press 3 for z” pressing the pertinent number on my keypad does nothing. Please help!

Solution: In cases like this you need to make sure that the DTMF tones is enabled in your device. To do this Tap Settings then Sounds. Verify that Audible Touch Tones, Key Tones, Dial Pad Touch Tones (or similar names) has a check mark.

You should also see which among the two DTMF tones settings work on your device.

  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Call.
  • From the Other call settings section, tap DTMF tones
  • Tap one of the following: Normal or Long

Note 4 Stop Incoming Call From Announcements

Problem: When I’m receiving calls my phone says “Incoming call from” then it’s says the person names who is calling. I’ve tried EVERYTHING to stop this . I don’t want to hear my phone say “INCOMING CALL FROM” …I just want to hear the ringtone, then I know who is calling.

Solution: First, make sure that driving mode is not activated. Just bring down the notification bar then make sure that driving mode is not selected.

Next, make sure that talkback is not enabled under settings and accessibility.

Finally, go to your phone dialer. Tap on the three vertical dots on the upper right corner. Select settings then select caller ID ringout. Select ring only.

Note 4 Lag When Answering Calls

Problem: It takes almost 10 seconds to answer an incoming call when I have the phone in my pocket. I push and push and touch the answer button(s) and the phone just keeps ringing. Finally, after what seems like 10 seconds, it answers. I have the home button default answering option on, one touch instead of swipe (tried both) and tried both verbal “answer” on and off. Very aggravating, as it didn’t used to do this. Tried switching from Touchwiz to Google and others, but no difference. It’d be nice to get rid of the default phone dialer, but that doesn’t seem to be an option.

Solution: This issue could be caused by some form of corrupt temporary data in the phone app. Try clearing the cache and data of the phone app from the application manager. If the issue still occurs then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

If the above steps fail then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs here. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing this problem. Find out what ap this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Signal Drops When Making A Call

Problem: I bought this Verizon Note 4 from a friend and had it hooked up to Metropcs\ T-Mobile and it works fine. The problem is whenever I make a call, the 4G icon on top quickly turns into a 1X symbol right when I connect to a call. Another problem is when I call an automated phone number, I’m unable to use the keypad to press 1 or # to reach an operator and I’m unable to dial an extension when the prompted voice says to dial an extension or press 0 for an operator. The numbers register on the phone when I press them, but have no effect on the system or connect to what I need connected to. Please help. I love my Note 4!

Solution: For the first issue try to check if the issue is network related by observing if the problem occurs in different locations. If it only occurs in just one particular location then it could be a caused by the tower in your area.

If you have determined that this is a phone problem then there are different factors that you should check which we have listed below.

  • The phone could be having some power issues which causes the signal to drop whenever a call is made. Try connecting the phone to its wall charger then make a call. If the issue does not occur then you should try to replace your phone battery.
  • The phone software could be causing this issue. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Regarding the second issue of the system not registering your keypad presses you should try to change the DTMF tone length of your phone.

  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Call.
  • From the Other call settings section, tap DTMF tones
  • Tap one of the following: Normal or Long

Note 4 Missed Call Notification

Problem: With all the issues I read about on your site, I suppose I’m rather lucky with my Note 4. The issue I’m stumped with is missed call notifications. Every time I reboot my device, I have missed call notifications, and they’re usually the same ones from the same dates and times. Is there a simple solution here? I’ve cleared the cache from the phone apps, and I’ve stopped them from running, but upon rebooting my device the notifications return. Even if I clear the notifications, it still shows through the small window screen on the folding case that there are missed calls. Any advice or solutions would be appreciated.

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this does not work then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
