S5 Wi-Fi Doesn’t Work
Problem: My Wifi doesn’t work. I resetted my phone and reinstalled everything but when I’m on my cell service I get Internet connection but when I connect via wifi I can’t connect. I tried other devices on my wifi and they work so it’s not my wifi connection. What else can I do to get my wifi working again?
Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset which doesn’t seem to fix the problem then this could already be hardware related. Have you tried connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi source? Does your Wi-Fi switch turn on or does it stay grey? If the issue persists then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Wi-Fi Slows Down Phone
Problem: The wi-first connection slows my whole phone down, the internet, my apps, just looking at my photos stored on my phone. When the wi-fi is disabled it is fine. My actual Internet is fine since my computer has no issue and this happens over all Internet connections.
Related Problem: Hi, Recently my phone has not been working well with wi-fi connections. When browsing or using apps with wi-fi it is very slow and freezes. When I disable the wi-fi my phone works just fine with the Internet and other app. I have tried clearing all caches and it has not helped. The Internet speed is fine since my computer works just fine with the wi-fi connection. Can you offer any help? Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you
Solution: This issue could be caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. Try to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If the issue still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Wi-Fi Connections Deleted
Problem: all of the sudden all of my wifi connections(100+) were deleted.. no new apps or anything.. what can it be ? everything else for perfect. thank You
Solution: A Wi-Fi connection will only be deleted from the device if you highlight the connection and click on forget network. Aside from this a factory reset will also delete the connection from your phone. If the Wi-Fi connections mysteriously disappeared from your device without you deleting them then it could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. For now just try to observe if this issue occurs again.
S5 Only Connects To Wi-Fi
Problem: Bought a new samsung galaxy s5 and it will only connect to wifi and won’t work with my data. I’ve done a factory reset and it still doesn’t work
Solution: Since this is a new device then the APN settings may not be set yet. Contact your carrier regarding the specific APN settings they are using then input these settings in your phone. You should also make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription and that your phone has a mobile data signal to be able to go online using mobile data.
S5 Mobile Data Not Working
Problem: I have a factory-unlocked Verizon phone that I am using on a Straight Talk plan. My mobile data had been working fine until December when I traveled abroad. I came back a few weeks ago and now my mobile data is no longer working (even though I have unlimited data) and can only access the internet with a Wi-Fi connection. I have tried to reset the APN, however the current settings are seemingly locked (greyed out) so I can’t even click on it to change it or edit it. I’ve performed a soft reset and have tried other little things here and there and none have worked.
Solution: Try taking out the battery and SIM card then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery and SIM card then check if you are now able to go online using your mobile data subscription.
If the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Webpages Won’t Close
Problem: My web pages won’t close. When I press the minus button all them clear, and I try to open a new page the all the pages come back up. It puts back on the page I just got of. And it won’t let me pick another page it just goes back to the one I’m trying to get off of.
Related Problem: When I hit Internet it says I have a maximum of 50 tabs open. It doesn’t give me the option to close all tabs,only the other 2 options. I try to x out a tab and it goes to a black screen
Solution: For this particular issue you will need to clear the cache and data of the browser that you are using to access websites. It’s also best to follow this up with wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
