S5 Camera Not Focusing
Problem: Hey there. I read something about the galaxy s5 camera not focusing thing. My gs5 camera also has the same problem. It doesn’t focus properly when I try to take pictures from afar. But when i try to take pictures of things near to the camera, it focuses properly. If i factory reset my phone will it surely fix my focusing problem?
Solution: While a factory reset is one way of troubleshooting the issue this should be done last. The first thing that you will want to do in this case is to check if there are any other factors involved that could be causing this issue. Start by checking the camera lens. Do you see any smudges, dirt, or dust? The presence of these foreign matter can affect the way the camera focuses. If necessary, clean the camera lens using a microfiber cloth. If the lens still has the protective film covering it ( usually attached when the device is new) then take it out as well. If you are using a phone case then try to temporarily remove the phone from the case then check if the device focuses properly.
Moving to the software side of things you should first wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data in the device which if corrupted can cause this problem.
Sometimes, a third party app you installed can cause this issue. To check if this is the case just start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Lastly, if the above troubleshooting steps fail then you can proceed with the factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
S5 Camera Out Of Focus
Problem: This has been happening for a long time – When I go to take a picture (usually closeups) I tap the screen to focus and it will focus sharp and then go out of focus again. No matter what I tap on to focus and whether or not my selective focus is on or off, it will go back to blurry. I don’t understand why when I see that it is able to focus just fine. Is there a way to do it manually? Thank you
Solution: Try to check first if this is a software related issue by clearing the cache and data of the camera app. Follow this up by wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
You should also check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If the phone is able to focus properly in this mode then there’s a possibility that an app you installed is causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Camera Not Found After Setting Phone Ultra Power Saving Mode
Problem: I turned on the ultra power save mode. When I turned it back off, most of my apps were gone from my phone screen, most of them were disabled. The weather widget is not working at all. But the worst part is that the camera icon is gone. The camera is completely gone. I cannot find it anywhere. If I try to use an app to try the camera, it says that the camera is not found or not available. I tried restarting many times, I even remove the battery, nothing worked! I need help!
Solution: When the ultra power saving mode of your phone is activated most of the non-essential apps are disabled in order to save battery life. Since you are missing most apps and even the camera app when you turned this feature off then this could just be a software glitch. Try clearing the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this doesn’t work then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S5 Camera Only Shows Three Modes
Problem: My camera shows only three mode: auto, beauty face, and panorama. When I try to zoom I get the message, Can not zoom in or out in this mode. I have restarted, I have changed between easy and private modes. I do not seem able to clear the cache. Very frustrating as it used to do this. Please help!
Solution: Make sure that the HDR mode or Selective Focus is not enabled. Make sure that the phone is operating in standard mode as well. If the settings are correct but the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S5 Camera Photo Missing
Problem: After taking photo and trying to see it phone says “unable to find item’ and picture is lost.. Not saved on device or sd card. This just started occurring yesterday. No new updates. Took out battery and restarted phone. Still not working. Thanks in advance for help!
Solution: Is the default save location of the camera set to the microSD card? If this card has corrupt sectors then it is possible that the photos will not be saved. Try switching the default save location to the internal storage of your phone then check if the issue still occurs. You will need to get a new microSD card if this is the case.
If the default save location is already the internal storage yet the problem still occurs then try to clear the cache and data of the camera app. Follow this up by wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the same issue occurs.
If you are still having the same problem at this point then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S5 Wong App Used To Open Recorded Video
Problem: I selected the wrong program to open a video we recorded (and selected Always), and now we can’t get it to play videos that we recorded on the device, and don’t know how to change the program it’s using to open the video.
Solution: You just need to reset the app preferences.
- From the Homescreen go to Apps > Settings > More.
- Go to Device Manager > Application Manager.
- Press the Menu key > Reset apps preferences.
