S4 Is Not Updating
Problem: My samsung galaxy s4 i1905 is not updating new software (lollipop). When i update it manually then it show Connect to server but not update.
Solution: There are several reasons why your phone is unable to get the latest software update. If your phone is rooted or is running on a custom software then you won’t be able to get the official software update from Samsung.
If your phone is still running on its stock software and has not been modified in any way then another reasons why you are not getting any software update is if the device has been unlocked and is now used in a different network. What happen in this case is that the phone will be looking for the update from its original network however it won’t be able to access the network server unless a SIM of that network is installed in the phone.
One way to update your phone software should your phone meet the above conditions yet fail to get the update OTA is by using Kies or Smart Switch. Simply connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running then do the update.
If you are still unable to do an update then you should consider flashing your phone software with the updated firmware. You will need a copy of the updated firmware file and a software called Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the Android forums online.
S4 Lollipop Update Considerations
Problem: I don’t have an issue yet. I made the mistake and read the issue’s others have after loading the lollipop so now I’m scared to update mine with it. I guess I’m looking to know that if I get those issues that I should be able to fix them and my phone will be back to normal. I would like to update so any help you can give will be great. Thank you
Solution: If you are still considering getting the Lollipop update then do not hesitate. I suggest you update your phone since the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. The issues that you read concerning some devices having a problem after the update affect just a small portion of the number of smartphones. If issues do arise then you can deal with this by simply doing a factory reset.
Some of the advantages you get when you update your phone to Lollipop are as follows.
- New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions
- Songs, photos, apps, and even recent searches from the phone can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices.
- Priority mode that only allows certain notifications to get through
- Battery saving features
- Smart Lock to secure phone by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car
- Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen
S4 “Failed to update software. Network or server error occurred. Try later or try using PC kies” Error
Problem: Everytime I try to software update my phone, it’ll tell me “Failed to update software. Network or server error occurred. Try later or try using PC kies.” I tried many times and I don’t have a computer to download kies. I’m also trying to avoid a factory reset and losing my data. It happened after I recently got my phone completely repaired and fixed and that’s when I lost everything.
Solution: Have you tried connecting your phone to a different wireless network? This is to check if the Wi-Fi network you are connecting to is causing the issue. You should also check if connecting to your mobile data connection will fix the problem.
In the event that the above steps fail then you really must find a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running the do the software update from there.
S4 Pictures Turn Upside Down After Lollipop Update
Problem: MAN!!!!! So I bought this S4 (US cellular) used and guess the person before wasn’t updating it at all. It had kit kat and I updated it to lollipop. Since I updated the phone, pictures taken in any angle, vertical, volume buttons up/down, the pictures come out upside down. Keyboard vibration is gone. I used a mac so I don’t have access to attempt an odin flash to kit kat. Any help would be good. I already attempted to clear the cache, rebooted various times and nothing.
Solution: Issues such as these which usually occurs after a software update can be resolved by doing a factory reset. The reason behind this is that there is some data from the previous software version still left in your phone. This data is causing a conflict with the new software version which results in these problems. A factory reset will delete all of this old data. Just make sure that you backup your data ( contacts, photos, messages, music, etc.) before performing this procedure.
S4 Wi-Fi Does Not Turn On After Software Update
Problem: I Have Galaxy S4 i9505. i have updated it from 4.2.2 to 5.0.1. my wifi wont turn on. i actually don’t know the official firmware to install or how to fix the wifi. i have installed I9505XXUHOB7_I9505YXYHOB5_BTU
Solution: Did you get the software using the official channels? If you didn’t then the firmware version may be incompatible with your device which is then causing this problem.
If this is the official firmware then try backing up your phone data first then do a factory reset. If the reset fails to resolve the Wi-Fi issue then this could be a hardware related problem. If this is the case then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Not Updating Software
Problem: Hey, I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy s4 for about 2 and a half years and it has NEVER been updated. It is still on the version I got it in, version 4.2.2. Whenever I press ‘Check for updates’ it says that ‘the latest updates have already been installed’. Is there anything I can do? Don’t mind if it isn’t ‘legal’. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Solution: If the phone is still running on its stock software that has not been modified and is still used in its original network then it should be getting the software update. Try connecting the phone to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch installed then do the update from there. If you are still unable to do a software update then I suggest you backup your phone data then do the update again using your computer or through the OTA method.
One other method to consider is to flash the phone with the updated software. To do this you need a copy of the updated firmware file and a software called Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the Android forums online.
