Note 4 Remote Widget Causing Screen To Freeze

Problem: I had an annoying icon on my screen when I was texting.  I pushed it out of the way and my screen froze and then got slow.  In about 2 minutes it became unresponsive.  It has a screen of grey over the lock screen.  I can receive texts but can’t access my screen.  I can’t even turn my phone off.  It’s like I can see everything happening but can’t do anything.

Related Problem: This morning I turned my phone on, and when I got to my home screen, there was an app open that I wasn’t aware of I think called a universal remote. Unsure of what it was, I tried to swipe it off my screen and it opened, causing my screen to darken and not allowing me to do anything on my phone. I can’t even turn it off, restart it, make or receive calls, etc. All I can do is stare at my screen as it does not register anything I do. I cannot restart it because the touch screen isn’t responding. There is nowhere on my phone I can pull the battery out either. I’ve tried everything with the few buttons available, and can only hope this issue goes away after I let it die, but that’ll take days and I would prefer if this issue was resolved before then.

Related Problem: My phone is working fine, but a shadowy icon showed up on my screen (it was very faint, but I think it said remote something???) and I touched it to see what it was and my whole phone locked up. I can’t swipe, turn it off, answer a call – nothing. Help! How do I get it unlocked?

Related Problem: I have a bubble that pops up with the picture of a remote in the center if I touch the bubble my screen freezes and I have to take my battery out to make the phone work again

Related Problem: Hello, the attached icon keeps popping up on my Note 4 and if I touch it my screen gets a clear black/gray film over it and I cannot use any controls or turn it off.  I’ve done an image search on Google for this icon and nothing comes up.

Solution: Several Galaxy owners who recently got the latest software update for their device saw a new icon on their home and lock screen. The icon resembles a remote control and is the widget for the Peel Smart Remote app. This is a universal remote control app designed for the device. While it has a good purpose the problem is that there seems to be a bug that freezes the phone.

To fix this problem you should first take out the phone battery then reinsert it. Turn on your phone then go to the application settings. From here search for the Peel Smart Remote app. It’s very likely that you will not be able to uninstall the app since this appears to be a carrier bloatware app. You can however do the next best thing which is to disable the app. Once you click on disable try to restart your phone. You will no longer see the app.

For a more permanent solution you may need to wait for an update for the app to be released by its developer.

Note 4 Screen Going Black

Problem: My phone screen started going black and i can’t access the tabs or anything.I remove the battery and replace it, turn it on, it makes the sound when it comes on and the blue led light comes on then fades.  Then the red light comes on then fades also. The screen still remain black while this is happening. I can hear the phone ring and hear notifications and stuff but its still black and i can’t access the screen at all. Then it comes back to life when it feels like. Its pretty annoying and frustrating. Please help. I barely have the phone for 2 months now.

Solution: When your screen comes back on you should immediately backup your phone data. You can do this using Kies or Smart Switch. Once your data had been backed up start your phone in recovery mode. From here you should do a factory reset. After the reset do not install anything in your phone yet. You should first check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the factory reset may have solved the problem. If however the issue still occurs then this could already be caused by a hardware problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have your phone checked.

Note 4 Screen Is Black After Getting Wet

Problem: dropped phone in water for 2 seconds, all sounds and everything works on phone except it shows nothing on the screen at all. Is there a way to fix this or is the lcd screen dead? i watched a video where someone purposely puts their note4 in water for even longer and they are able to get it going after 12 hours from drying it out and said the phone is pretty much “waterproof” since it comes back to normal after 12 hours. Is there any way to fix my screen so it isn’t black or do i need to get it replaced?

Solution: The water may have damaged the phone display. Try drying your phone first for at least 48 hours by placing it in a bag of rice. Make sure to take out the phone battery when you do this. After 48 hours reinsert the battery then turn on your phone. If the issue still persists then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 S Pen Very Sensitive

Problem: I just got this phone off of ebay today and i’ve been using it all day and 30% of the time the screen will act like the s pen is touching the screen even though it’s not. Like i’ll be using it and all of a sudden as long as the s pen is close enough it will act like the s pen is touching even though it’s clearly not. The only way i can get it to stop is if i just tap on the screen a bunch real quick or just put the s pen back in its cave then take it out again. Very annoying. But other than that i’m in love with this phone.

Solution: Try using a different S Pen and see if the issue gets resolved. If it doesn’t then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
