After some speculation in the global media, Xiaomi’s budget sized monster, the #Redmi3 has gone official in the Chinese markets today. The smartphone packs a 4,100 mAh battery on board, making it one of the few budget offerings out there that could last up to 2-days on a single charge.
The device also comes with a 5 inch 720p display, an octa core Snapdragon 616 chipset, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable) and Android 5.1 Lollipop with 4G LTE support. There’s no fingerprint scanner here like rumors had predicted, which is not exactly a surprise considering that this is merely a budget offering.
The handset is a China only offering for now, but could be available via online sites globally fairly soon. The Redmi 3 is priced at 699 CNY ($106). As you can see from the images here, the Redmi 3 looks like a clone of the iPhone 6 and the 6s, at least from the back. Do you think that’s the case? Share your thoughts below.
