Note 4 Not Making Or Receiving Calls

Problem: My phone will not let me make calls or receive calls.  Every time I try to answer or make a call the phone automatically reboots.  It’s been happening for a day.

Solution: It’s likely that this problem is caused by some form of glitch in the phone software .Try starting your phone in recovery mode first then wipe its cache partition. Reboot the phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after the reset the issue still occurs the try replacing your phone battery with a new one as this may be causing the problem. When the phone makes or accepts calls it uses more power and the battery you are using right now might not be able to accommodate this increased power requirement.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center.

Note 4 Can’t Hear Voice Calls

Problem: When i am making calls they say that they can’t hear me well. I have my note 4 for 1 year and i have this problem. When i put on my headphones there is no problem. I have cleared the microphone and made a voice record and i can hear the voice. But when  calling they say that they can’t hear me well and speak more loudly.

Solution: If you voice volume is normal when making a recording then the problem could be with the phone app. Try clearing the cache and data of this app.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a third party app. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. This makes the troubleshooting easy to do. Try making a call in this mode. If the issue does not occur then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done try to make a call and check if the issue still occurs.

Note 4 Drop Calls

Problem: My phone goes in and out of service a lot. Many times I drop calls. It’s so bad that I can’t call anywhere important because I’m worried to call will drop. I get an error that says “out of service area” when I know I’m in a service area. I went to At and T who told me to factory reset my phone. I did this and things went good for a week. Now it starting to act up again. Plz help. I’m so frustrated.

Solution: If the factory reset resolved the problem for a week then it’s very likely that the issue is caused by some form of corrupt data or by an app installed in your phone. Try to check first if this problem is caused by a third party app by starting your phone in Safe Mode. Only the pre-installed apps are permitted to run while your phone is in this mode. Make a call in this mode. If the call does not drop then the problem is most likely caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Reboot your phone then check if there are any new software updates available. Update your device software if an update is available.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset again. If the problem still occurs after the reset then this may already be a hardware issue possibly caused by a faulty phone antenna. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it  checked.

Note 4 Unfortunately Phone Has Stopped Error When Making A Call

Problem: I updated my android software, at the end it told me software update failed after that I am not able to make or receive any calls because everytime I’m trying to do so I receive this message “Unfortunately, phone has stopped”.

Solution: This problem is very likely caused by conflicting data in your phone. When your phone did the software upgrade some data from the old software version was not completely removed. This data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this problem. The best way to deal with this is to backup your phone data and then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Lag In Making A Call

Problem: When I make a call, the phone lays and when the party answers my call there is a lag where they don’t here me reply.  I always have to say hello twice.

Solution: This issue could either be caused by problems with the phone network or by your phone software. Try to check first if this issue occurs in different locations. If it only occurs in one particular location or area then there could be some problem with the network towers in that area. I suggest you contact your carrier regarding this matter.

If the problem occurs in any area or location then this could be a problem with the phone. Try to wipe the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. Reboot your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

If it does then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Always Answers Calls In Speakerphone

Problem: Phone always answers in speakerphone.   When I call out it ways automatically opts for speaker.  I have to toggle it on and off.  I have tried settings and googled solutions to no avail.  Any insights?

Solution: You should try to check first that the driver mode of your phone is disabled. In most cases like this a third party app installed in the phone is causing the problem. To check if this is the case here just start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s very likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 No Volume When Making Network Calls

Problem: My phone doesn’t have any voice when I make a call with the network call . I can only make a call over WiFi and other messenger as Facebook, whatsapp  , talk and other

Solution: Try to verify with your carrier first if there is an issue with the network or your account. If both the network and your account do not have a problem then this issue could be cause by a glitch in your phone software. Try to restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Automatically Calls Caller Back

Problem: Phone calls caller back after I hang up the call. I restarted in safe mode as you suggested and this appears to have corrected the issue. I am wondering if this is my Youmail app. I guess I can remove to see if that is the issue but thought I would pass along to see if you have heard that this may be a common theme.

Solution: Several other Android device owners are also experiencing this same problem. Since the issue does not occur in Safe Mode then it is very likely caused by an app. If you suspect that the Youmail app is causing the problem then try to uninstall it then see what happens. On our end we haven’t heard of anyone confirming that this app causes this behavior.
