One of the many reasons a lot of people choose Android devices is because of the easy way to upgrade its storage capability. The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 for example has an internal storage capacity of 32GB. If that’s not enough then you have the option of adding a microSD card of up to 128GB. The addition of an external storage solution makes it easier for the owner to store a lot of music, photos, and video files on the device.
There are however instances when microSD card issues can occur on this device. This is what we be discussing today as we tackle the Galaxy Note 4 not able to access microSD card issue & other related problems.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or any other Android device for that matter then feel free to contact us using this form. We will be more than happy to assist you with any concern that you may have with your device. This is a free service we are offering with no strings attached. We however ask that when you do contact us try to be as detailed as possible so that an accurate assessment can be made and the correct solution can be given.

Note 4 Not Able To Access microSD Card
Problem: My smartphone is not able to access data on MICROSD external memory card (64GB). The phone does not recognise the presence of the memory card in the card slot. I was previously using a 32GB memory card and didn’t have such problems. After initially inserting the 64GB card, it worked okay for some time ( a few days) and then stopped reading data on the card.
Solution: If your phone can still recognize the 32GB memory card ( try to insert it in your phone ) then the problem could be with the 64GB card. You should verify this further by taking out the 64GB card and let your computer read it. You will need a card reader for this. If your computer can’t read the card then it is most likely corrupt already. You can try to save this card by formatting it using your computer. Take note that this will delete the data stored in this card. Once the format is complete try to insert the card back to your phone.
In case the microSD card is not read by your computer or can’t be formatted then your only other option is to get a new card.
Note 4 Can’t Add Delete Data On microSD Card
Problem: 128G memory card inserted android itself built its android folder and lost folder with a couple hundred MB worth of data but i can’t add/delete anything to the card i’ve tried to format the card but my phone just restarts without formatting it seems like i’m locked out of the card. Any idea
Solution: Try taking out the microSD card and format it using your computer. Once this is done reinsert it back to your phone. Make sure the card is in its proper orientation and is secured ( not moving around) in the microSD card slot. Check if the issue still occurs.
If you are still unable to add or delete data on the card then try to start your phone in Safe Mode. What you will want to do is to check if a third party app installed in your phone is causing this problem. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you installed could be the culprit behind this. Find out what app is causing the problem and uninstall it.
If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you try to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the reset fails to resolve the problem then I would suggest you try using a new microSD card on your phone.
Note 4 microSD Card Not Recognized
Problem: I have a note 4, and a 64gb sandisk micro sd card. I actually have 2 sd cards. One was in my note 3 which already had files. I own a 2014 macbook air and when I put the sd card in my laptop sometimes it does not recognize it and other times it does. when I transfer files to it the new files don’t transfer and when I tried to delete the old files they do not delete. It says on my mac that the files transfer but when I take out the card reader and put it back the new files are not there and the deleted files are still there. I used my 2nd SD card and formatted it with my note 4 phone but that SD card is not recognized by my mac either, to the point where all it says is there is 64 gigs of free space but I cannot transfer anything into the sd card. In addition I can’t even add the files to my phones regular internal memory either. Kies does not recognize my device and smartswitch only gives me the option to sync, backup or restore my phone but not to transfer file to my phone.
Solution: Are you using a card reader to connect your car to your Mac? If you are then this could sometimes be the cause of the problem. Try getting a new card reader and see if the issue still occurs.
Regarding your phone not recognized by Kies or Smart Switch you should first try to connect the phone to your computer using a different USB cord and see if this fixes the problem. This USB is usually the culprit in cases such as this since it easily breaks especially if it is constantly coiled or bent.
Moving forward, another factor that can cause the phone to not be recognized is that the phone software could be corrupt. I suggest you try to backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check the microSD card if you can easily transfer / access files. You should also check if your phone is now detected by Kies or Smart Switch.
Note 4 Mount SD Card Error
Problem: I have a galaxy note 4 and been trying for a month to get this thing figure out. I haven’t downloaded anything to this phone and I have a 32gb memory card in it. But when I go into play store and try downloading my apps it always says not enough storage space. I know the card is good I put it on my computer it shows up I put it in my galaxy s3 and it shows up but when I put it in my note it says “Mount SD card” insert an SD card for mounting. So for some reason its not showing up on this phone. Can you please help me? I love this phone really want to use it.
Solution: When you download apps to your phone from the Google Play Store it uses the internal storage space of your phone. You should check if there is enough space in the internal storage space of your phone. If there is none then you should free up some space. Try to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode to free up space used by temporary files. You should also consider uninstalling apps that you never or rarely use.
Regarding the problem of the phone not able to mount the microSD card you should first make sure that the card is inserted in its proper orientation and that it is secured in place. If the problem persists then try to blow some air on the microSD card slot as sometimes dirt can get into it and cause this type of problem.
Another factor that can cause the phone not to detect the microSD card is a software issue. If this is the case then you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the phone can now detect the card. If not then you should try to use another microSD card and see if it gets detected. If the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 4 Suddenly Unmount microSD Card
Problem: SD all of a sudden unmounted itself and now it’s not working anymore, I don’t want to lose the photos and videos on it so how do I fix this??
Solution: This could just be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try to turn off your phone then take out the battery and the microSD card. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert the battery and the microSD card then turn on your phone. Check if the card is now mounted.
If the problem is still the same then take out the card and have your computer read it. You will need a card reader to do this. If the card is detected then you should backup its contents. If the card is not detected then it could already be corrupt in which case you need to replace it.
In case the card is detected by your computer and you have already made a backup of its data you should then format the card using your computer before inserting it back to your phone.
Note 4 Apps Not Moving To microSD Card
Problem: Recently fitted an SD card and 25% of the apps have moved over ok BUT a lot won’t. Why?
Solution: Some apps are designed to work when moved to the microSD card while other apps are designed work only in the internal storage space of the phone and cannot be moved. Apps that cannot be moved are usually apps that have important data since this data is more secure in the internal storage space of the phone.
