S4 Will Not Power Back On

Problem: my Samsung galaxy turned off by itself, and will not power back on. It has been well taken care of no drops no cracked screen. I have removed battery tried resetting to no avail. I use my phone not only personally but business. What can I do. HELPPPPPP

Solution: The first thing you should do is to determine if the issue is caused by the battery. Connect your phone to a wall charger that is known to work then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Turn on your phone then check if the issue gets resolved.

If the problem persists then remove the battery and the microSD card ( if your phone has one installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn your phone on. If it doesn’t turn on then let it charge for another 20 minutes again before turning it on.

If the issue still persists then you should consider getting a new battery as the battery of your phone could be causing the problem.

If after the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: Last week, my phone suddenly started rebooting itself.  It will power up and every time it does, it receives another copy of the same text I received shortly after this started.  I have taken the battery out.  I have taken the SIM card out. There is no SD card in it.  It starts as normal and I can operate it for about a minute and then it reboots.  I don’t so much care about the phone as I do the photos that are on it.  As the power needs to be on to transfer the files to my computer, I am unable to do this.  Based on other issues that seems similar on your site I have done the cache reset but even starting the phone in safe mode or troubleshooting mode does not stop the rebooting from happening.  I have tried using a different battery which knowingly works in other phones to no avail.  Is there a way to fix this or at the very least get the photos off of the phone?  I know that if I bring this to a dealer or repair shop, the first thing they will do is wipe it.  Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

Solution: The problem could be caused by a corrupt software. Dong a factory reset or flashing the phone with its original firmware may resolve the problem however it will also delete the photos stored in your phone which you would like to retrieve.

I suggest you try connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies installed. Check if you are able to backup your phone data using Kies.

If the problem persists then you will have to copy the photos to your computer one or two at a time. I’m sure you will be able to copy a few files at a time in a span of a minute or until the phone reboots randomly.

S4 Does Not Turn Back On After Software Upgrade

Problem: after charging phone overnight and using it this morning, no apps were working so i turned it off and back off again. it said that ‘android is upgrading’ and stayed on this screen for around 30 seconds. it then turned off and wont turn back on.

Solution: Try taking out the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. If it doesn’t turn on then connect your phone to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.

If the issue persists then try to start your phone in recovery mode. From here the first thing that you will want to do is to wipe the cache partition of your device. If that does not work then a factory reset is highly recommended. Take note that this will delete your phone data so only do this procedure if you are willing to lose your data.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it  checked.

S4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: So for some reason on Friday of last week my phone shut down at like 50% so I figure oh this happened before let me just charge it …the charge icon pops up for like 2 seconds and it shuts off so I start clicking the power button like crazy and it comes on the reboot screen where it reads galaxy s4 but quickly shuts off…since then it has done it more frequently and I’ve tried everything from cleaning the power Button to switching the battery nothing is working unless you help me my next step is going to t mobile for  replacement.

Solution: Try clearing the phone of any residual charge first by taking out the battery and microSD card then pressing the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert just the battery then charge your phone using its wall charger for at least 20 minutes. Turn on your phone.

If the issue still occurs then try to start your phone in recovery mode. Start the troubleshooting in this mode by wiping the cache partition of your phone. If this does not work then you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete the data stored in your phone so only do this if you have made a backup of your phone data.

If the problem still occurs at this point then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

S4 Screen Does Not Wake From Sleep

Problem: Whenever I press the power button to reply to a text the screen won’t come up. I press the power button and touch the screen and the options and back button do turn on however, not the screen. I either have to wait about 5 minutes and try again and the screen does turn back on sometimes. Other times I have to restart the phone by long pressing the power button. I don’t know why it has been doing this for the past three days

Solution: Problems like this are usually caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. One of the popular methods to resolve this problem is to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this fails to fix the issue then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S4 Will Not Turn On

Problem: My phone was working fine this morning but when I got home it will not turn on. When I press power and or home it flickers green on the screen and vibrates. The blue light comes on for a few seconds and turns from blue to green a few times and then…nothing.

Solution: This issue could be caused by a bad battery, a problem with the phone software, or it could be caused by faulty hardware.

To start the troubleshooting you should take out the phone battery and microSD card of your phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear the RAM. Reinsert just the battery then charge your phone first for at least 20 minutes. Turn on your phone.

If the phone does not turn on then try to use another battery then check if the issue still occurs.

If you can start your phone in recovery mode then do it. From here you need to do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete the data stored in your device so only do this if you are willing to lose your phone data.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Does Not Charge If Not Turned Off

Problem: The other day I got a pop up telling me about how my battery was power shared and I need to download to stop this , hours later my battery started to die and I went to charge and it did not recognize my charge it considered it a “usb connection ” now my phone won’t charge unless I turn it off and even then I turn it off it pops up the battery and turns off every 30 seconds ! Please help me!!

Solution: Did you download an app before this problem occurred? If you did then try to uninstall it first. If the problem persists then you need to check first if this is a software problem by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset. One the reset is complete check if you can now charge your phone.

If the issue still persists then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. You should also try using another USB cord and wall charger when charging your phone.
