S4 Can’t Send Texts

Problem: Verizon unlocked phone on family mobile. Can’t send texts but can receive them. Tried the *#*#4636#*#* and nothing comes up. Family mobile says call back in 72 hours pls help need this phone for work

Related Problem:  I have the same issue as you described in the first issue from switching over to Walmart family mobile with a Verizon phone. I changed the APN and calls and Internet work but I still cannot text. I tried calling that number for the message center but it just comes up with an error message. Please help

Solution: Since this was previously a Verizon phone then it’s very likely that your phone is still using the Verizon message center number. You should check if you have the option to chance the message center number under the advanced messaging option. In most cases though this option is disabled which is common on the S4 running on the Verizon software.

If you don’t have the option to change the message center number then you should consider rooting the phone and installing an app called  Advanced Signal Status. This app allows you to have access to the hidden settings in your phone. You will also be able to edit the message center number from here. Just change the message center number to the one Family Mobile is using.

S4 Text Messaging Freezes

Problem: Sometimes, my texting works fine; but, sometimes it gets really hung up. Someone will text me, but I won’t get the text. I’ve figured out that if I’m pretty sure someone has texted me, I call any number.  When that call goes through, so does the text. Also, sometimes my texts won’t send. I fix it by having a call go through then my text sends. Both problems are also fixed if someone else tried to text me then both go through. I really want this to be fixed because it can be very untimely and annoying

Solution: There’s a possibility that this issue can be caused by some form of corrupt data. If this is the case then try to clear the cache and data of the stock messaging app first. You should also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu.

If the problem still persists then it could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Not Sending Text Message

Problem: I have a friend I have been texting for Years.  A year ago I got my Galaxy S4.  It worked fine until April 15 Texting back and forth about 20 times a day!!! Then something seemed to Block the Text I would Send to Her!!  So we went to Using Facebook Messenger. in July I dropped my Galaxy S4 and broke the Screen,  I went back to using my Old Phone and the Texting worked Fantastic!!! I got my Galaxy S4 back in September, and had to go back to using Messenger!!!! One Day My Friend And I met up & we decided to Try Texting each other and was Surprised that it worked when we were Setting next to each other………   As Soon as we got a few miles apart.  No more Texting!!! She can Send me Text’s, and I get them,  When I reply, She don’t receive them,  Sometimes I notice it say’s on my Phone -Draft- Can you help me?????

Solution: Your friend didn’t receive the text message because the message has been saved to draft. When a message is marked as draft it means that the send button was not pressed. Make sure that you have sent the message so that it won’t be saved as draft. If you have pressed the send button but it still remains in draft then the problem could be caused by a glitch in the phone software.

To troubleshoot this problem try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app first. If the problem still persists then start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.

It’s also possible that a third party app installed in your phone is causing this problem. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run which makes it easy to troubleshoot if something your downloaded is causing the problem. If you can send a text message in this mode without any problems then an app may be the culprit. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S4 Not Downloading MMS In Wi-Fi Connection

Problem: Trouble downloading mms pics when connected to my wifi. I can turn wifi off and still won’t download until i leave my house. Pics download outside of wifi fine

Solution: To be able to properly download an MMS picture your phone should be using a mobile data connection and not a Wi-Fi connection. This is the reason why despite having a good Wi-Fi connection in your house you are not able to download the MMS but are able to when you are away from a Wi-Fi source.

When you turned off the Wi-Fi switch of your phone while still inside your house make sure that you have also turned on the mobile data switch. You should also check if the phone has any data signal available inside your house.

S4 Not Getting Text Messages

Problem: When you power your phone off, and people say they’ve sent text messages, why when you power the phone back on, the text messages never come through?

Solution: When someone sends you a text message and you phone does not have any network coverage or is turned off the carrier will attempt to ping your phone repeatedly checking if it has a signal then if it detects that your phone is available the message is sent. There is however a time limit for this which depends on the carrier. If your phone is turned off for more than a day then there is a big possibility you won’t be getting any messages sent just after your phone was turned off.

S4 Have To Manually Download Group Message

Problem: I have to download a message sent from one of our group on group messages.  This just started yesterday.  I have never had to do this before.  Everyone else’s messages on group messages come thru fine.  What can I do to resolve this?  Oh yes the ‘downloads’ don’t work either!!

Solution: Try to check first if your mobile data connection is fast and stable. You can do this by opening a website using the phone browser on a mobile data connection. If the mobile data is fine then the issue could be caused by corrupt data. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app first. If the issue still occurs then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from recovery mode.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a wrong APN setting. You should compare the APN setting that your phone is using to the one your carrier is using. Correct your phone settings if necessary.
