Note 5 Touchscreen Not Working
Problem: The upper left corner of my touchscreen does not work all the time. I usually have to restart it to get it to work. Will 6.0 Marshmallow fix this issue or is there probably something wrong with the device? Or do you have any fixes I can do?
Solution: If this issue occurs intermittently then it is most likely caused by a problem in the phone software. Do you have the Facebook Messenger app installed in your phone? A lot of people having this same problem found out that this app is causing the problem. It could be a recent app update that has this bug. To check if this is the case try to disable the app. Check if the issue still occurs. You could either uninstall this app or wait for a future update to arrive that will fix this problem.
Another factor that can cause this issue is a third party app in your phone. The app could be causing a conflict with the phone software resulting in this issue. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you download are disabled. Check if the problem still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Finally, if the above troubleshooting steps fail I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 5 Screen Unresponsive Even After Factory Reset
Problem: For the past month, I noticed that the top left side of my note 5 screen would just stop being responsive. In order to fix this, I have to restart my phone three to four times per day. A couple of days ago I did a factory reset on my phone. I figured this would fix the problem, but it doesn’t. Around the same time I also noticed that even my fast chargers do not charge it fast anymore and it does not say rapid charging on my screen like it used to. As of now, after I just factory reset my phone and put only necessary apps back in, the freezing continues and the rapid charging does not. I am at a loss and do not know what to do. Please help!
Solution: Try doing another round of factory reset but this time do not install any apps yet or update your phone apps after the reset is complete. Check if the screen problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then an app you installed could be causing the problem. A primary suspect is the Facebook Messenger app which most people have found out causes this type of problem on their phone. If you can’t uninstall this app then try to disable it then check if the issue still occurs.
Regarding the phone not able to fast charge anymore you should consider replacing the charging cord that you are using since this cord gets easily damaged. You should also clean the charging port of the phone since dirt or debris can affect the charging process. In cleaning the port you should use a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Note 5 Black Screen
Problem: I have had my Note 5 for about 3 weeks. I face this issue twice. The first time was when I entered camera accidentally then i exit to home screen but the home screen went black. The phone is still working. I can locked it and unlock it with screen working just fine but once it unlocked to home screen it is black. I can use application enter through recently open app just fine but if i press home screen then the screen is black. The only way was to reset my phone. I just happened again today after I press delete one of the emails and it keep saying deleting without actually deleting it. When i realised it took too long to delete so i press home button to exit to home screen but again the black screen appear at home page but other page and button can be use normally.
Solution: It appears that this problem is caused by some form of corrupt temporary data. Try to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. If this does not work then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset
Note 5 Unable To Use Touchscreen With Fingers
Problem: I am unable to use my touch with my fingers to use my phone. I am only able to use the s pen. My phone is practically brand new and has no damage. Please help!
Solution: It appears that the digitizer of your phone may be damaged. Try to start your phone in recovery mode then check if you are able to wipe the cache partition of your phone. If the device is not accepting your touch input then you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. There’s a possibility that you will need to have the digitizer replaced.
Note 5 S Pen Not Working On Certain Areas Of Screen
Problem: I bought this phone 9 days ago, had issues with “dead” spots on the screen when using the S pen. On certain areas of the phone, the locator dot thingy accelerates over certain spots and doesn’t work, so I call it a dead spot. My finger works in those dead spots, just not the pen. Best buy replaced the phone yesterday, but this new one seems to have more dead spots. Ideas?
Solution: Have you tried using a different S Pen on the phone? If not then try using a different one since the issue could be caused by the S Pen. If the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any app on your phone or do any updates. You should check the phone with the S Pen again and see if the problem disappears. If the issue is still present then this could be a hardware related problem.
