Note 4 Screen Is Unresponsive
Problem: This is the second replacement phone I was sent with the same problem. Part of the screen is unresponsive. Currently is the “o/p” area of the keyboard. Sometimes it works, Often it doesn’t. Sometimes it’s the back button in upper left. I can rotate screen to make keyboard work, but then other parts won’t work and I have to rotate back. It’s very frustrating. I just reinstalled everything on the phone.
Related Problem: If you touching in the left corner it will not work
Related Problem: The right top corner of my screen won’t recognize my touch at all. Can not do anything.
Solution: If the problem intermittently occurs then it’s very likely caused by some issue relating to the phone software. Sometimes a third party app installed in your phone can cause this problem. One possible cause is the Facebook Messenger. Try to disable this app first and see if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then try to uninstall the app update as this update may be causing this problem. You should also consider uninstalling this app.
To check if another third party app is causing this problem you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Try checking the responsiveness of your phone in this mode. If the problem does not occur then it’s very likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Should the problem still occur even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Daydream Mode
Problem: Hi, I’ve been using my Note 4 since last year, and it is all going fine and no problems with it. Last week it updated to the Lollipop 5.1.1 and since then whenever I charge my phone the battery percentage and some colors with what looks like water floating appear on my screen with some words like speed and continuous, and I have no idea what are those and how to stop that appearing on my screen everytime I charge the phone. Even when I unplug it and if I don’t unlock the screen this water floating background still appears and it consumes a large percentage of the battery life. I hope you may help me with this if there is a possible way. Thank you.
Solution: This is probably the Daydream feature of the phone which you may have activated. This is an interactive screensaver which automatically activates when your phone is charging or docked. Your screen is turned on when this feature is activated. You will also receive real-time information while your phone is in this mode.
To turn this feature off go to your phone Settings then click on Display and Wallpaper. From here tap on Daydream then make sure that it is turned off if you don’t want this activated.
In the event that this feature is already turned off and you are still having this same issue I suggest you start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. If this doesn’t work then proceed with backing up your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Back Button Stuck On Upper Left Corner
Problem: My phone has recently been having the back button stick in the upper left corner or the back button itself. I took my phone to sprint and of course it would not malfunction for them They did a diagnostic check that put boxes all around the outside connected to an “x” in the middle. When the tech drew his finger along the boxes they all lit. I could use your help with this please. Thank you for allowing me to post here. Your information has helped with many problems along the way
Solution: If the diagnostic test aims to check problems with the phone hardware. Since this test doesn’t show that the phone has any issues then it’s very likely that that a software glitch is the culprit.
The first thing you need to do is to clear your phone of temporary data as this may be causing the problem. To do this you need to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
Another factor that you should consider that is causing this problem is a third party app that you installed in your phone. Sometimes a certain app may cause a conflict with the phone software resulting in various issues. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If after performing the troubleshooting steps listed above the issue still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Screen Is Black While On A Call
Problem: My phone screen goes black while I am making a call or during a call when the receive end prompt me to dial a number or I got a voicemail prompt me to dial a number. I always have to press the home button to be able to see the numbers on the screen. I need your help to solve this issue
Solution: The proximity sensor of your phone is responsible for turning the screen on and off during calls. If your phone is near your ear this is detected by the proximity sensor which turns off the display since this is not needed at the moment. Aside from saving battery life it also prevents any accidental touches made by your ear on the screen. Normally, once the phone is in your hand then the proximity sensor will sense this and your screen will immediately light up. If this isn’t the case then try to follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
If your phone has a screen protector or case installed then try removing it first as this may be interfering with the proximity sensor.
Try accessing the service mode of your phone then check if the proximity sensor is working. To access the diagnostic mode just press *#0*# on your keypad. Tap on the Sensor part. Try to cover the proximity sensor which is located on the right part of the earpiece. You should see the values of the proximity sensor on the display changing. If it doesn’t change then the problem is hardware related in which case you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
If the proximity sensor passes the hardware test then the next step is to check the phone software. You will need to wipe the cache partition of your phone first. This eliminates the possibility of some form of corrupt temporary data causing the probleM. In case the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Screen Changed Color
Problem: Well… my s4 suddenly screen became weird. It’s like whatever is black or a dark colour turned white and light colours. I looked in my settings and everything was normal. My status bar used to be black but now is a aqua type colour. This has gone on for about 3 days now. Help me PLEAAAAAAASE
Solution: Are you using a theme on your phone? If you installed some theme then the color of the device could change. If your phone does not have a theme installed then try to start your device in Safe Mode to check if the problem is caused by a third party app. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the problem does not occur in this mode then an app is most likely causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem still occurs even in Safe mode then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
