Google sending out January security updates to Android now

Marshmallow

#Google has just started sending out the January security updates for its range of #Nexus devices, starting with the Nexus 5, 6 as well as the Nexus 7 tablet. Customers of the Sprint/Verizon Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 are already seeing an update on top of Android 6.0.1 which comes with the build number MMB29S. The Nexus 7 (2013) is supposedly seeing the build number MMB29O post this new update.

There’s no word on when the more recent Nexus devices like the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P will receive this month’s security update, but knowing Google, it shouldn’t be far away. Security updates have now become a monthly affair ever since the infamous Android Stagefright bug was spotted by a bunch of concerned users.

Google hasn’t made anything official as far as a changelog is concerned, but as is the case with updates such as these, it never is made public, so we will have to go with the word of the customers for the time being.

Have you seen an update on your Nexus device yet? Sound off in the comments section below.
