The #ASUS #ZenFoneZoom smartphone was originally announced about a year ago by the Taiwanese manufacturer, but faced innumerable delays. However, the company has finally given out a precise release date for the smartphone in the U.S., with the device expected to make its debut in early February.
The smartphone will be priced at $399.99 during its launch, the company mentioned in its release. This should make the device quite competitive, especially given the kind of hardware it packs underneath. For those unaware, the ZenFone Zoom is one of the few devices to feature an optical zooming camera sensor, which is unheard of for a mobile device.
Since it’s taken one year for the device to hit the markets, ASUS has significantly beefed up the hardware to make it an attractive proposition for the buyers. It packs a 5.5 inch 1080p display, the Intel ATOM Z3590 2.5 GHz quad core processor, 64GB of internal storage (expandable), 4GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera (f/2.7-f/4.8 aperture size, 3X optical zoom and OIS), a 5-megapixel front camera, 3,000 mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
There’s no word on whether ASUS will release the ZenFone Zoom in the U.S. through a carrier, as the pricing mentioned above is only for the unlocked model of the handset.
