We did receive a lot of emails from Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (#Samsung #GalaxyS6Edge) owners complaining about not being able to sync their Facebook contacts with their phones anymore and we always thought that maybe it has something to do with the settings in the device, or the internet connection or anything at all. But it seems like the problem is from Facebook at all. Read on to know more about this problem.
There are other app issues I included here so try to see if one of them is the same or related to yours. If, however, you are looking for a solution to a different problem, visit the troubleshooting page we’ve setup for S6 Edge owners. It contains all the problems we already addressed. Find problems related to yours and use the solutions we provided. If they don’t work for you, then fill up this form to contact us.
Here are the problems I addressed here…
- Media streaming stopped automatically
- Adding contacts brings up the Camera app
- Facebook contacts not syncing with S6 Edge Plus
- Ad pops up when opening the Gmail app
- Top left corner of the screen not responding to touches
Problem: While watching Netflix, or listening to Sirius Satellite Radio, or the Google music app they will just stop playing and if I restart them it will do it again and then I’ll restart the phone and it may work or won’t.
Troubleshooting: It sounds like an issue with your internet connection. Streaming any form of media requires an active and reliable internet connection. If it got cut off while the media is being played, it will be stopped until such time when the connection is regained.
If you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network, try to turn the Wi-Fi off in your phone and turn it on again to refresh the connection. Or better yet, “Forget” the network you’re connected to and let the phone detect and re-connect to it and then begin your streaming again.
On the other hand, if you’re connected to a mobile network, try to turn it off and on again and if the problem persists, you should contact your service provider.
Problem: In contacts, when I go to add a contact, it always jumps to the camera, to add a business card. I can’t get to the usual screen for manually adding a contact by typing in info. How to reset to avoid this?
Troubleshooting: Don’t worry, you just have to reset the default app set for the Contacts app. Follow these steps and you’ll be good:
- From any Home screen, tap Apps.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Applications under Device section.
- Tap Default applications.
- Tap Contacts.
- Now tap the ‘Clear’ button on the right.
Problem: Hello. My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is brand new. It won’t sync Facebook with my contacts. All the other account did sync. Google+, Samsung account, Twitter, etc. Can you help me with a solution to get the sync right?
Answer: It may be very disappointing for users who want to access their Facebook contacts on their Android phones but it seems like Facebook no longer support this feature as stated by Sofia V of Facebook Help Team.
Basically, what we can do now is provide some feedback and hope FB will bring the feature back.
If you badly need the feature, I suggest you uninstall the FB app on your phone and try to find (using Google) an earlier version of the app and sideload it to your phone. The feature no longer works on recent versions of FB app.
Problem: Whenever I go to open Gmail this as the size of my screen takes over wanting me to claim my free iPhone. Is difficult to even back out. Usually have to press my home screen and start over.
Troubleshooting: It’s basically an ad that’s attached to an app. Google’s Gmail app from the Play Store is always clean but try to uninstall and re-install it to see if the ad still pops up. If so, backup all your data and just do the master reset. We don’t know the extent of the exploit of the app that brought this ad to your phone. So, it’s better you reset it now to uninstall the malicious app.
How to master reset S6 Edge Plus
- Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
- Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
- When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
- Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
- Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
- Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
- After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Problem: The top left corner of my screen stops working suddenly. I just got the brand new Edge+. I took it back to best buy and they gave me a new phone. It’s having the same issues. Is this just something that’s happening on the edge+? This means that with apps like Spotify, I can’t click the menu button in the top left corner.
Troubleshooting: Does it happen to Spotify only or to all apps? If it occurs while using Spotify but works perfectly with other apps, then it’s Spotify’s problem not your phone, otherwise, have it replaced again until you get the unit that works perfectly.
Phones are manufactured by batches and there are times when one batch has defects. So, request a replacement again and this time, try the new unit while still in the store.
