S5 Software Update Failed
Problem: When trying to update my galaxy s5 it will power off trying to update but then says update failed and powers back on. When it is back on I receive a message saying that the update was interrupted. I tried updating again and it says no updates available try again in 24 hours.
Solution: Basically, your phone is initially able to download the update but then can’t install it. One of the main reasons why it’s not installing is that your phone may not have enough internal storage space available. Ideally, you should have at least 3GB of space internal storage space available ( microSD storage space is not counted). Some of our readers however claim that they were only able to successfully install the update when freeing up 6GB of space. I suggest you do the same. If you have any music, videos, or photos stored in the internal storage space then move this out temporarily. You can also uninstall apps that have a huge file size such as gaming apps to reclaim some space.
If you still can;t update your phone then there may be an app preventing you phone from getting the update or this could also be caused by a glitch in the phone software. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Download the update again after the factory reset.
S5 Software Installation Failed
Problem: I was alerted to a software update today, which I downloaded with no problems. It was only when I restarted my phone that I ran into trouble. It starts the reboot, loading a black screen with the AT&T symbol and small text that says “Installing”. It stays on that for maybe 15 seconds before quickly switching to an image of a broken Droid bot (the green guy) lying down with a little red error sign next to it. Then it says “Installation failed” or something of the like and takes me back to the original AT&T symbol with the installing text, now with a small, empty loading bar and a 0% above it. Any ideas?
Related Problem: Hello, I went into About Device and clicked on Check for updates. After finding there was a software update available, the update downloaded properly. When my phone turned off to update the phone, the AT&T symbol appeared and then it said update failed. I was connected to a secure and strong wifi connection during this process too. Any suggestions as to why this is happening. Thank you
Related Problem: My phone keeps saying I need to do an update, well everytime I try to install it, it will say that the download failed, or the download was interrupted, this is insane
Related Problem: downloads huge update fine, after restart to initially install update…after 2% install fails with no explanation. …also my sound hasn’t work since the first lollipop update…I still haven’t been able to find or any solutions to that
Solution: This issue is similar to the one we have answered above. The installation failed error you are getting can be caused by two factors. First, there may be insufficient internal storage space available in your phone.Although the update could just be a couple of hundred megabytes in size this is still in its compressed state. It has to be uncompressed for it to install. The recommended free internal storage space is 3GB however I suggest you free up at least 6GB of storage space.
If you have already freed up storage space and the issue still persists then there may be an app in your phone interfering with the installation process or the phone software may have a glitch that resulting in this issue. If this is the case then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset you will need to download the update again.
S5 Software Update Interrupted
Problem: Phone showing software update Everytime I update software after the the software downloads my phone restarts and error message shows installation has be interrupted. I have connected to several different WiFi to try to update my software I’m continuing to get the same error message.
Solution: Does the problem occur during the download process or after the download process when the update is installing? If it is during the download process then try connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch installed. Once your phone is detected the software will prompt you that an update is available. Just follow the onscreen instructions to do the update.
If however you can complete the software update download but it does not install then you need to make sure first that your phone has an adequate internal storage space available. Try freeing up at least 3GB of space and see if you can install the download. If it doesn’t install then free up 6GB of internal storage space.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then one last thing that you can do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Constantly Notified Of Software Update
Problem: Received a request to update OS late last night. Since then, I have successfully completed the update 3 times, yet my phone is still notifying me that an update is available. Initially I had to delete, and move some apps to the SD card to free up enough space for the update.
Solution: If the update was successfully installed then this issue may just be caused by a glitch in the phone software. I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone from recovery mode to resolve this issue.
