S5 Mobile Data Does Not Turn On
Problem: My mobile data does not turn on on command. I would just leave it on and It turns on randomly. I can’t send or recieve picture texts as well. If I try, it would never send or just send at a very late time, maybe 5 hours later or so. My phone is also an At&t phone but I use t-mobile.
Solution: If your phone’s mobile data does not turn on or you are experiencing a delay in sending picture messages then the problem could be caused by corrupt data. I suggest you start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. Reboot your phone then check if you still experience the same problem. If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Other factors to consider in this case is if your phone is getting a good mobile data signal. You may want to toggle the network mode from 3G to LTE and check which mode works best.
S5 Can’t Use Mobile Data
Problem: I bought an unlocked verizon phone to use it under t-mobile’s services…the problem is that i cant use my data the only way to get on the Internet is by using wifi. I tried to to do the steps that i’ve found on the website but i it doesn’t work all i see it’s the e on the signal bar. 🙁 thanks for the help. Does it have to be on global mode? Because it keeps asking me to switch.
Solution: Have you tried switching between the different network modes and check which one works? To do this go to Settings – Tap More networks – Tap mobile networks – then Tap network mode. From here you can choose Global, LTE/CDMA, or LTE/GSM/UMTS. I suggest you try the latter setting first.
There’s also a possibility that your phone does not have the correct APN setting yet. Since this was previously a Verizon phone then it could be using the Verizon APN. You need to change this to the T-Mobile APN.
The T-Mobile APN Settings are as follows:
- Name: T-Mobile US LTE
- APN: fast.t-mobile.com
- Proxy: <Not set>
- Port: <Not set>
- Username: <Not set>
- Password: <Not set>
- Server: <Not set>
- MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
- MMS proxy: <Not set>
- MMS port: <Not set>
- MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
- MCC: 310
- MNC: 260
- Authentication type: <Not set>
- APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
- APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
- APN roaming protocol: IPv4
- Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN’s>
- Bearer: Unspecified
S5 Mobile Data Not Available When Turning On Mobile Hotspot
Problem: Hi, I have a AT&T unlocked Samsung Galaxy S5 active phone and I have T-Mobile as a carrier no contract and 10 gigs of data plus data stash plan. The 80 bucks a month plan unlimited, any way when I try to turn on my mobile hotspot it gives me that error message mobile data not available or invalid sim. I called and talked to tmobile technology person and they seemed lost, is there anything else that you can find out how to fix this issue so I can use my tethering and mobile hotspot? ? Please help!!! Thank you in advance
Solution: This appears to be a software related issue. Most carriers limit the mobile hotspot feature of a device unless it is subscribed to a particular data plan. In this case, since the phone is an unlocked AT&T device, it will look for the AT&T servers when the mobile tethering option is turned on.
One solution to this problem is to root your device then install a tethering app from the Google Play Store. Some owners of this device experiencing the same issue just opt to install a different firmware on their phone that allows tethering.
S5 Mobile Data Randomly Turns Off
Problem: Hello. I have a Metropcs Samsung Galaxy S5 with unlimited data but lately I’ve been having issues with my Samsung Galaxy S5 mobile data randomly turning off. I guess it happens when I’m in an area with limited service but the 4G network and bars used to turn back on (show up at the top of the screen) when I had service again. Now I have to manually turn on the mobile data in the settings section. I tried taking the phone back to the carrier and explaining the problem but the guy there didn’t really know how to help and only suggested I close out open app windows and to turn Wi-Fi off when not in use. It’s incredibly frustrating to have to keep turning the data on just to send, receive, and use my apps. Please help! Thank you.
Solution: This issue could be caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. You should first start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This deletes the temporary data stored in your phone which could cause this type of problem. Restart your phone then check if the problem still occurs.
If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Will Not Switch Back To LTE From 3G
Problem: phone once in 3g will not switch back to LTE. I’ve wiped cache in vol up home power button menu and it fixed it for a day but then continued on not switching back to LTE. never i mean, i always 100% of the time have 3g . i’ve been from the top of cali to bottom and during that drive not once did it switch to LTE from 3g. i’ve had it in automatic to LTE/CDMA network, keep it in auto instead of home, domestic data selected, same in roam. frustrated and lost
Solution: If wiping the cache partition of the phone temporarily resolves the problem then there’s a possibility that this could be a software related issue. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs.
S5 Not Getting 4G LTE Service
Problem: I purchased a refurbished, unlocked Verizon S5 (SM-G900V). Being unlocked, I’m using it on my AT&T account (GSM network) & it does work (even though I constantly have a message in my Notification section for “Phone activation” stating “This SIM card is from an unknown source”. I also don’t get 4G-LTE service – the best I get is H+. Here is some additional info I grabbed from under the “About phone” section:
Baseband version: G900VVRU1ANK2
Build number: KTU84P.G900VVRU1ANK2
SE for Android status: SEPF_SM-G900V_4.4.4_0033
Hardware version: G900V.05
My question is this…is there a way to remove the “Verizon” operating system & load the AT&T software so my phone works properly? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Solution: Regarding the issue of your phone not getting 4G LTE service you should try to check the network mode setting of your phone and make sure that that the LTE option is chosen. You should also make sure that you are in an LTE covered area.
As for changing the Verizon operating system of your phone you can do this by flashing your device. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the Android forums online.
