S4 Sound Not Working In External Speaker
Problem: To Whom May Concern, Would like to ask, my phone is working fine, but when in whatsapp’s, when people send in voice message and i click, it wouldn’t appear in speaker. As in, i only can put my phone at my ear to hear the message, won’t come out from speaker. And it same goes to, when people call to me, I want to end call, it is black screen, i have to press the home button to re-appear the screen. Please help. I am using samsung galaxy 4. Thanks
Solution: Does this problem occur only if you use WhatsApp? Have you checked if the problem also occurs if people send you voice messages using the Facebook Messenger app? If the issue only occurs when you are using WhatsApp then the problem may be with the app itself. Try to clear the cache and data of the app. If the problem still persists after this then I suggest you uninstall the app and download a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
You should also check if the problem occurs outside of WhatsApp by checking if your phone external speakers are indeed working. To do this just play a music file on your phone without any headphones connected. The sound should be coming out of the phone speaker. If you can’t hear any sound then check if the Bluetooth feature of your phone is turned on, if it is then turn it off since your phone may be connecting to a Bluetooth speaker somewhere.
One important troubleshooting step that you should consider doing is a factory reset. Make sure to only perform this after you have backed up your phone data. Once the factory reset is complete check if your phone speakers now work with WhatsApp or any app.
Regarding the phone having a black screen while you want to end the call this issue is likely caused by the proximity sensor of your device. If your phone has a screen protector or case installed then this may be causing the problem, try removing them first and see if the problem disappears. If this is a software related problem then the factory reset done earlier will most likely resolve the issue.
S4 Volume Sets To Low During Calls
Problem: The version says 4.4.2 so not sure if picked correct option above. The phone automatically does updates so not sure which one it has done lately but now every time I answer a call on messenger the in call volume is very low and I have to say hang on a sec and turn it up on the side button. I’ve tried setting it to high volume but every call seems to go back to low when call is connected. It never used to do that. Very annoying. My wife has the same problem, and same phone and happened around same time so I’m thinking its an update thing. Would love some advice. Thank-you.
Solution: If your wife’s phone is also having the same problem and you both updated your phone’s then this could be caused by the update itself. You should however check for other possible causes first. Make sure that the volume is set to its maximum level. Make a call then once the call connects adjust the call volume to its maximum level. Drop the call then make a call again. Check if the volume stays at maximum. If it doesn’t then the next thing that you should do is to check if an app installed in your phone is causing this problem. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode do the same procedure you did previously. Make a call then once the call connects make sure the volume is set to maximum. Disconnect the call then make a call again. Check if the volume stays at maximum. If it does stay at its maximum level then the problem may be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is usually the troubleshooting step done whenever issues occur after a software update.
S4 No Sound When Making Or Receiving Calls
Problem: No voice or sound when making or receiving calls works on everything else I can make calls with Facebook and Google voice works music works but not call sound the buttons work on the receiving phone but no voice in or out
Solution: For this particular issue I suggest you start your phone in Safe Mode first. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Once your phone is in this mode try to make a call. If the voice or sound works in this mode then an app may be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Sound Delayed When Watching YouTube
Problem: Hello. I have a problem with the sound that is delayed as watch YouTube videos and other online videos. How can I fix this, please help.
Solution: There are various reasons why this problem can occur. First, you have to make sure your phone is connected to a fast and stable Internet connection. If the connection is unstable then you may experience a lag in the sound.
Next, make sure that you don’t have a lot of apps running in the background. These apps use up system resources such as your phone RAM and even the processor time. If your phone is low in RAM and the processor is working on other apps then you may experience a lag in the volume. I suggest you force close the other apps. You can also restart your phone then only open the YouTube app then check the sound.
Corrupt temporary data in your phone can also cause this problem. If this is the case then you need to wipe the cache partition from the recovery mode.
Finally, if the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S4 Sound Not Working
Problem: None of my sound is working whatsoever, including when I make calls the other person can’t hear me and I can’t hear them. However, when I turn on the device the sound works for that moment when it’s the ‘theme tune’ on the black screen. Also, it is turning off at random moments and when it turns off it just goes to the black screen with ‘Samsung’ written on it and stays there for hours, then suddenly will turn back on again. But it is working slowly when it is on. Thank you
Solution: It looks like this problem could be caused by a corrupt system software. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs.
S4 No Sound Coming From External Speakers
Problem: Possible moisture but REPLACED loudspeaker with a new one still no ringing, external music, no speaker when anything is tried, not even testing using *#7353# . All works except for sound through the loudspeaker, including vibes. Can hear beeps etc… through headphones or bluetooth headsets.
Solution: Is your phone still running on its stock software? If it is then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset has completed check if the sound can come out of the external speaker. If the problem still persists then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. Some possible hardware related cause that needs to be checked is that the loudspeaker which you placed in your phone may be defective or it may not be properly connected to the phone.
S4 Can’t Hear Call When Calling Someone
Problem: Hi, for the last few days I’ve had issues with the sound on my Samsung galaxy s4. here is the issues I’ve found / noticed yet.
- when on the phone calling someone they can’t hear me, I can’t hear them
- when calling someone, I can hear the phone ringing, when they pick up nothing. When playing Videos /music / receiving calls I can hear it but a lot quieter than usual even though it’s on full volume.
- when I put earphones in I can hear everything on normal volume incl calls
- sounds like alarms still work keyboard & the sound when putting my sound higher is still working.
If you could let me know what you recommend for me to do thai would be fantastic! Thank you very much!!
Solution: For this particular issue what you should do first is to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data in your phone which if corrupt can cause this problem.
If the issue still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the issue persists after the factory reset then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
