The #Samsung Galaxy #S4 is becoming one of the solid smartphone choices that a consumer can make. Despite being released more than 2 years ago it has still competitive specs and it doesn’t cost a lot. S4 Doesn’t Charge When On
Problem: Device doesn’t charge when it is on when full battery is drained then it will start charging every time I have to wait till the battery is fully drained to recharge it
Solution: Are you using the original wall charger that came with your phone? There is a tendency that charging issues will occur if you are using a third party charger so it’s best to use the original charger. If you are using the charger that came with your phone then try to use a different Samsung charger ( with a different USB cord to charge your device).
Another factor that can contribute to this type of issue is the charging port of your phone. Inspect the port for any signs of damaged or bent pins. This makes the phone difficult to charge. If you spot any damage then you may need to have this charging port replaced at an authorized service center. If there is no damage then check for any signs of dirt or debris. Clean the port if necessary using a can of compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
You should also try to replace the battery of your phone with a new one to check if this is causing the problem.
One other thing that you should not overlook is the phone software. If it is corrupt or has a problem then it’s possible that this charging issue can occur. To check if this is the case you will need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then this may already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Doesn’t Charge
Problem: Hi I have Samsung Galaxy s4 I bought it’s 3 months ago and it was working fine but one day the battery dies and I put it to charge and charging battery didn’t show and I left it on charge and in few hours I checked the phone didn’t charge but the screen was so hot like it was left turned on all day but nothing on screen. Thank you
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to take out the phone battery and the microSD card of your phone. Carefully inspect the battery for any sign of bulges or uneven surface. If there is a bulge then you need to get a new battery. If the battery looks fine then before reinserting it to your phone you need to press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone circuit of any charge and clear out the RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on your phone.
If your phone does not turn on then try using a different wall charger with a different charging cord in charging your phone. Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes then try to turn it on.
If the problem still persists then the next thing you should do is to get another battery to check if this is a battery related problem.
If the problem still persists then this may already be a hardware related issue. Since this is just a 3 month old device then you can use its warranty.
S4 Does Not Boot
Problem: I’ve recently started having troubles with my Galaxy S4, GT19505, which is about 2 years old. The phone has started to switch itself off and then try to reboot. But it doesn’t seem to be able to reboot itself, it gets to the screen that says ‘Galaxy S4 GT 19505 and then pauses and then turns itself off again. Sometimes it stays off but mostly it just keeps trying to turn itself back on but failing. I’ve found that if I leave the battery out for a few minutes then I can turn it on and it’ll work for 30-60 seconds. I’ve tried doing the soft reset that I read about in one of your helpful articles and also the ‘wipe cache partition’ as per the same article (http://thedroidguy.com/2015/08/how-to-fix-samsung-galaxy-s4-that-keeps-turning-off-on-its-own-other-power-related-problems-1048346). I haven’t had any software update recently and I haven’t added any new apps that might cause a major slowdown. I’m not losing power quickly like some other people had happen to their phones. As ,much as I suspect it may be a battery issue the strange thing is that my phone will work fine if I turn it back on without the SIM card in it. These problems began suddenly, this didn’t happen once or twice then increase over time, it went from working fine to the problems I described in one step. I would be very grateful for any help you could provide, I have read your troubleshooting stuff but I can’t find my problem listed there.
Solution: You mentioned that if the SIM card is removed then your phone boots normally. Have you tried using a different SIM in your phone to check if the problem is caused by the current SIM you are using? If you haven’t then I suggest you try using a different SIM. If the issue still persists with another SIM in your phone then remove the SIM. With the SIM removed proceed with booting up your phone. Once your phone has started back up your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is done inspect your SIM first for any signs of dirt or damage. Clean the SIM is necessary. Reinsert your SIM then turn on your phone.
If your phone is still stuck in the logo then this could already be a hardware related problem since your phone can start normally without the SIM. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Does Not Charge With Wall Charger
Problem: Pop that warned of virus infection that will damage the S4 battery unless I DL and install an app immediately. I did not DL but backed out and ignored the warning. Later when my phone needed charging I plugged it in. The phone chirped the sound it always makes when the charging starts but it kept chirping over and over as if the charging port might be loose then the chirping stopped. I thought nothing of it and left it to charge. When I went to unplug the charger I saw it was not charged and had less power left than when I plugged it in. I checked the wall mount and cord on my wife’s phone and it worked fine. I unplugged the cord from the adapter and plugged it into my computer and it charged the phone perfectly. Now plugging the USB cord into the computer is the only way it will charge. It will not charge in the car or through the wall adapter. US cellular checked it out and had no clue and suggested I send the phone to Samsung. I hope you can help.
Solution: For this type of issue you need to eliminate the possibility that the wall charger or your phone battery is causing the problem. To do this try to use a different wall charge and a different USB charging cable in charging your device. Proceed with changing your phone battery if the problem persists.
If at this point your phone still fails to charge using the wall charger then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check and see if your phone charges.
If the problem still occurs then this may already be a hardware related issue. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Stuck On Logo
Problem: The problem with my phone is Saturday night I receive a text message and I went to answer it and my phone freeze and when off. So I try to power it on back and it wouldn’t come on, so I took out the battery for a while and then put it back in, the phone came on and showed the the s4 logo and with black screen and didn’t come on for nothing.
Solution: Try taking out the phone battery and the microSD card if you have one installed. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. What this does is it discharges your phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on your phone.
If the issue persists then you should check if you can access the recovery mode of your phone. From there start by wiping the cache partition of your phone then reboot your device and check if it now boots up properly. If it doesn’t then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete the data stored in your device so make sure to only consider this step if you have recently made a backup of your phone data.
