Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Screen, Images Not Clear, & Other Related Problems

One of the main reasons the #Samsung Galaxy #S4 is popular is because of the display that it is using. This device sports a 5 inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Images appear vibrant on the display making it one of the best mobile devices for viewing multimedia content. With its Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection the display can withstand normal wear and tear which would scratch other screens without this protection.

S4 Images Not Clear After Screen Replacement

Problem: Hello there. Recently i have replaced my samsung s4 screen as it was broken. After the replacement i noticed that images are not seen clearly in low brightness. It looks as some kind of jittering with some portion of the picture. Can you please provide some help on this issue.

Solution: If this issue occured right after the screen replacement then the problem could be caused by the installed screen. Is the screen an original Samsung Super AMOLED display or is this just a replacement LCD from a third party vendor? If it is just a replacement display then this may be causing the problem as the quality of the display may be low and not up to par with the original display.

You should however check if other factors are causing this problem. Start by backing up your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the problem still occurs. If it does then it is very unlikely that the problem is caused by the phone software.

The next step is to open the phone again then check if there are any loose connections between the display and the phone board.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then there’s a big possibility that the issue is caused by the display itself.

S4 Black Screen With Green Lines After Phone Dropped

Problem: I dropped my phone today and when I picked it up the screen was black with green lines on it. I’ve turned it off and on, taken the battery out and left it out for a few hours but nothing. When I turn it on it makes the power on sound, the back and options buttons light up but the screen is just black. What’s wrong with it?

Solution: It’s very likely that the shock from the drop caused some damage to some components inside your phone. Before bringing the device to an authorized service center you should first try to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

Try to check if the problem is caused by a battery that has no charge in it by charging your phone using its wall charger for at least 20 minutes. After 20 minutes have passed try to turn on your phone.

If the issue persists then take out the phone battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed ). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.

If the problem remains then the last checking that you need to do is to determine if this is caused by a glitch in the phone software. Check if you can start your phone in recovery mode. If you can then start by wiping the cache partition of your phone. If this doesn’t work then perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that your phone data will be deleted once you do this.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Green Lines Appear On Screen

Problem: Hi so I barely bought this gs4 & I was using it & all of a sudden a green line appears in the middle out of nowhere I tried turning it off , taking the battery out as well but it doesn’t go away it’s just a green like right in the center of the screen what should I do ? Thanks in advance

Solution: Try to check first if this problem is caused by a third party app installed in your phone by starting your device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the green line does not appear in this mode then the problem is most likely caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after the reset the green line can still be seen then this could already be caused by a damage in the phone display. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Screen Goes Black When Surfing The Net

Problem: When surfing the net occasionally the screen goes black and everything freezes. The none of the buttons work including the power button. I have to take the battery out to reboot the phone. It happens on the factory browser and chrome. The problem is happening more  and more regularly. When surfing the net occasionally the screen goes black and everything freezes. The none of the buttons work including the power button. I have to take the battery out to reboot the phone. It happens on the factory browser and chrome. The problem is happening more  and more regularly.

Solution: It is possible that the problem could be caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. For cases like this the first thing you need to do is to start your phone in recovery mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your device.

Restart your phone then check if the screen still goes black. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Screen Black Unresponsive After Getting Wet

Problem: I accidentally dropped the  phone in a toilet bowl. I immediately took it apart, dried it with a towel, then blow dried it. I stuck it in a bowl of brown rice for a night. This happened yesterday btw. Now it’s fully functional, but it has already happened a few times that the screen goes black and is unresponsive. eventually it will work again but it takes a couple of tries with the home button and power button. The two buttons next to the home button always works: the menu and the back button. How do I prevent the screen from going black again?

Solution: There’s a possibility that this issue can be caused by water entering your device. The thing about a phone getting wet is that the issues sometimes don’t appear immediately. Sometimes it takes a day, a week, or even months before the issue appears.

What you need to do in this case is to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software first by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Observe if the issue still occurs after the reset. If it does then you need to have your phone checked at an authorized service center as this may already be a hardware related problem.

S4 Black Screen

Problem: I was going to call someone after school when half of my screen was black and the rest was discolored. After a day everything was black

Solution: Is your phone still getting any notifications despite the screen being black? If it is then there’s a possibility that the display is damaged and needs to be replaced.

You should however check first if this problem is caused by issues in the phone software by accessing the recovery mode. If you can access the recovery mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. If this doesn’t help the do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this will delete all data stored in your phone. You should only consider this if you have recently made a backup of your phone data or if you don’t have a problem losing your phone data.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
