Note 4 Phone Won’t Make Calls

Problem: For some reason my phone wont make calls, it’s as if it wont connect to the network. I rebooted the phone. I cleared the Cache. My Phone can receive calls, Whatsapp is working, Text messages are working, Wifi is working. I receive emails. I just can’t dial out. I hope you can help

Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting you should first make sure that your account does not have any issues. Try to contact your service provider first and have them check your account.

Once you have verified that this isn’t an account related issue the next step is to troubleshoot the phone. Start by checking if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this just start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if you can make a call in this mode. If you can then the issue may be caused by an app you downloaded. Try to find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Calls Get Dropped

Problem: Hello. I bought my note 4 n910t used from a friend that said he just bought it from tmobile 2 weeks ago. I didn’t notice right away but sometimes or very often the phone will drop service when I attempt to call or somebody call me otherwise is OK. I have tried changing the modem to a lower version and it seemed to work a little because the service doesn’t drop too often but it still do it. I have tried different versions of the software, reset it and all that. I just want to know if you guys have any idea of what could be happening here before I consider this an antenna issue. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue occurs in one particular area? If it does then there may be a problem with the network in your area.

Another factor to consider is the SIM card you are using. Try to insert a different SIM in your device then check if the calls still get dropped.

Since you already did some extensive troubleshooting on the software side then you should consider bringing your phone to an authorized service center if the issue still occurs.

Note 4 Call Static

Problem: While in the middle of a call, the call goes in and out. Either the other person can’t hear me or I can’t hear them. Most times they can’t hear me. They say it sounds like static and then they hear me for a bit, and then static again. Soon after that, my call drops

Solution: Static during a call is usually caused by some external interference. Running motors, microwave ovens, and sometimes light bulbs can cause interference which results in static. When this issue occurs are you indoors or outdoors? If you are indoors then try going outdoors and see if the problem occurs. If the issue doesn’t occur while you are outdoors then something inside your house may be causing the static.

One other factor to consider is the network signal. Does the issue occur in only one particular area? If it does then there may be a problem with the network in that area. Try to check if the same issue occurs when you go to other locations.

Moving to the phone itself, the phone software can also cause this type of issue.

Check first if the problem is caused by some form of corrupt data by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

If the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

If after the factory reset you are still experiencing the same problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it  checked.

Note 4 Not Getting Calls

Problem: Usually, I will receive a message saying that I missed a call from someone and there are times that people will say I cannot contact you since your phone is switch off but my phone is never switch off. It is really important for me to receive calls since I handling clients :(Hoping you can help.)

Solution: When this issue occurs have you checked on the signal bar your phone is getting? If the signal fluctuates from no signal to one or two bars then thi may be a coverage related issue. Try to check if this issue occurs in different locations that you go to. If it only occurs in one particular location then this may be a network related problem possibly caused by a weak coverage.

Another factor that can cause this issue is corrupt data in your phone. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. Restart your phone then observe if the issue still occurs.

One final troubleshooting step that you can do if the problem still remains is a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

Note 4 Can’t Hear Calls

Problem: I can not hear the other party unless the speaker is on. It doesn’t matter who initiated the call. The call volume is at maximum. This doesn’t make any sense. It’s a brand new phone.

Solution: The front speaker of your phone may not be working. Try calling someone using a Wi-Fi connection with the Skype app or through the Facebook Messenger app. If you still can’t hear the other party unless the speaker is on then proceed with checking if a corrupt phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.

After the reset is complete check if you can now hear the other party during calls. If the issue still remains then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the front speaker checked.

Note 4 Can’t Make Calls

Problem: My phone will not allow me to make or receive phone calls and there is a lock n key symbol on top of phone

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to verify if your account is able to make and receive calls. To do this you need to contact your service provider. Once you have verified that the problem is not account related the next thing you should do is to check if your phone is getting a sufficient network coverage. If your phone does not have any signal then you will not be able to make or receive calls.

You should also check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.
