Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Screen Is Black Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 is best known for its large beautiful display. This model uses a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Images appear vibrant and lifelike on the screen and since it uses a Super AMOLED technology the display only draws little power from the battery. Note 4 Screen Is Black

Problem: Screen is black but phone is operating normally as it does ring when someone calls it but nothing shows up on my end. Blue notification lights up on top left. Dropped phone last night and it hasn’t lit up since.

Solution: If the screen is black but the notification tones are still arriving or the phone is still getting a call the problem is usually caused by a faulty display. It could be that the display has a loose connection to the main board of the phone or the display itself is is defective.

You should however check if the problem is software related by starting your phone in recovery mode. If the black screen problem disappears and you can see the recovery mode menu then the problem could be software related. You can proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone to check if the problem is caused by some form of corrupt data in your device. Another troubleshooting step that you can do from the recovery mode is a factory reset. Make sure to only do this if you have a backup of your phone data or if you don’t mind losing your phone data.

If the display is still black in recovery mode then you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Display Black After Phone Dropped

Problem: I dropped my phone in it’s case about three feet onto the pavement. It landed battery side down. Now I am getting a black display. I turned the phone off and took out the battery. When I went to turn it on again there was a flicker of light in the top part of the screen, then nothing. The phone will turn on and everything works. I am still getting the noises for the notifications. The back button and the double square lights up as well. The screen didn’t crack, it just won’t display anything but black. Please help me! I’ve only had this phone for a week.

Solution: The drop may have caused some damage to the phone display. Although it hasn’t cracked some internal component inside it may already be faulty. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Cracked Screen Not Working

Problem: Hello, I have a really important question for you. About a few weeks ago I dropped my note 4 & the screen cracked. Everything was fine it worked well & everything was okay. Yesterday I dropped it again & there was a weird colorful line through my phone kind of like how the old tvs used to be , you could still see the screen but when I tapped on it you couldn’t click on anything. I took the battery out & it didn’t want to turn on anymore, you could hear it ringing, the back keys were working but you couldn’t see anything . If you have any clue into helping me find out what the problem is & how I could fix it that would be the greatest thing ever. Thank you so much for your time & I hope to hear back from you soon.

Solution: Unfortunately in this case troubleshooting the phone software won’t work since the display already has a physical damage. You will need to have display replaced to have your phone working again. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it fixed.

Note 4 Screen Will Not Turn On After Phone Getting Wet

Problem: last night i dropped phone in toilet phone was working fine  about 2.5 hours later i turned the phone off because it kept saying “the dock is connecting” ive never seen this before on my phone. when turning it off the screen showed the Android little man and said Downloading  do not turn off target    I let it “”download”” for about 30 mins or so, tried turning off phone and could not so i opened the back there was moisture, i took battery out wiped everything off let it dry for a bit. put the battery back in powered phone up sent a few texts .  screen went off and will not come back on. i can receive and talk on incoming calls, i can hear emails and texts coming thru. when pushing the power button the blue light on left top corner comes on then the 2 white lights on the bottom comes on for a few seconds then goes off. when being charged the red light comes on. the phone was in rice all night and i have taken the battery out several times and restarted the phone.

Solution: I suspect that this could already be a hardware related problem caused by the water entering your phone. Check if you can access the recovery mode on your phone and see if the screen turns on. If it does then the problem is most likely software related. From the recovery mode you can wipe the cache partition of your phone. Proceed with a factory reset if the problem persists. Take note that the factory reset will delete the data stored in your phone so do this only if you have made a backup of your phone data.

If you can’t access the recovery mode due to the black screen then this is already a hardware problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it repaired. You may need to have your phone display replaced.

Note 4 Screen Is Black When Using Facebook App

Problem: I’ve turned off the phone note 4 and then I can view Facebook again. Goes for awhile then black screens again.

Related Problem: I am frequently getting black screen on Facebook App.  I’ve uninstalled and re-installed, but still it happens.  Beyond my small bear brain.  Doesn’t seem to be happening on any other app

Related Problem: Facebook app keeps going to a black screen within 10 mins of scrolling through feed.  Only way to get out of it is to uninstall the app.  I’ve tried clearing cache, clearing data…with no change.

Solution: Since we have been receiving several reports regarding this particular issue then it may be caused by a bug in the latest Facebook app update as the black screen only occurs when using the Facebook app. Some of our readers have tried uninstalling then reinstalling the app to no avail.

I suggest you try to restart the phone then when the phone starts open the Facebook app and check if the problem occurs. This way only a few apps are running and not using up the phone’s memory. If the black screen does not return then the problem could be caused by low RAM.

You should also try to wipe the cache partition of the device.

If you haven’t uninstalled the Facebook app yet try to uninstall the app update first then check if the problem still occurs.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then you may need to wait for a new app update to fix this problem.
