Pile this under the daily #GalaxyS7 rumor list. A new report is suggesting that Samsung’s much talked about flagship handset will feature a magnesium body. Devices like the Oppo R1 and the OnePlus 2 already feature magnesium shell exteriors, so there’s no reason why Samsung can’t take the same route.
To put things in plain words, using magnesium alloy would mean that devices are significantly lighter and would allow the company to cut down on the overall weight of the device. This seems like something that Samsung would be very interested in doing, so we don’t see why this can’t come to fruition.
However, with no proper evidence at our disposal yet, it’s a little too early to jump to conclusions. The Galaxy S7 is expected to pack a top of the line Snapdragon 820 SoC underneath along with 4GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. A 5.2 inch Quad HD display is being hinted, which seems very likely at the moment.
