After the upgrade, my phone restarted correctly and there is a new updated Samsung logo that displays. I was presented with my login screen and was able to login (I have a password set which I must have because I use my phone as a BYOD for work). I was presented with a Setup Wizard screen asking for Language selection and then an error popped up “Unfortunately LogsProvider has stopped.” with an option to select OK, but the error keeps presenting and I cannot get past it.
I have read that perhaps Cache needs to be cleared on there is a database error in Contacts… but I cannot get to any functions on the phone. I can connect the phone to my PC and I can see files. I received an alert on my phone of a text or email and it will ring if called (but again I can’t do anything because of the error message popup). So, it seems to me the phone is working.
I allowed the phone to log off and just saw a scrolling message “unlock your device to use it as a media device”. Not sure if this is helpful to you.
I am application savvy but not regarding hardware. I hope this is something that can be cleared up without a full device initialization. Prior to the upgrade I exported my contacts and saved out my photos.
Thank you in advance. — Michele
Solution: Hi Michele. LogsProvider isn’t normally found under Application Manager so there’s no way to clear its cache and data. What you can try though is wipe the phone’s system cache and see if that will work. Here’s how to do it:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
- When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
- Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
- Press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If nothing changes after deleting the cache partition, the glitch may lie deeper in the firmware. Consider doing a factory reset to fix it.
- Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
- Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
- When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
- Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
- Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
- Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
- After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Well, it all started less than a week ago. The phone is really great and fast, then it suddenly became laggy. Mostly I use YouTube, Facebook, SoundCloud, and a game called Piano tiles. Facebook is really laggy. More than one time it took about half a minute to wake up, especially when I am return home and the phone starts receiving the notifications that came when I was away. (I have no data plan, so when I connect to the Wi-Fi it bursts in but I used to be fine.)
The game Piano tiles also lags a lot and takes a while to start. I had heavier games before like Asphalt 8 and Shadow fight and the phone took it nicely.
It may seem silly but the whole thing started after I downloaded Piano Tiles.. Can it be the source of the problem?
Thanks. — Ahmad
Solution: Hi Ahmad. We can’t say if Piano Tiles is to blame. You have to check it yourself. It’s a common phenomenon though that some apps may interfere with how other apps work, or simply degrade the performance of the phone in general. There’s a chance that that particular app is problematic. Try removing it and observe how other apps work without it. That’s the best way to know if you suspect one app is causing lags or performance issues.
I can’t log into my Facebook app on my Samsung Galaxy S6. I try looking for updates and nothing. It was working fine until i accidentally logged out of Facebook and when i log back in, i get this “Login Error An Unexpected Error Occurred Please Try Again” .
I have tried uninstalling, soft resetting, then reinstalling. i tried to log into my woman’s account and no problems there. I then logged back out, i even tried changing passwords.
And also i noticed that on my desktop PC, when i’m in Facebook it will not allow me into the security tab, very frustrating and confusing, and i am not going to do a hard reset unless its the last option. because then i have to save everything, and write everything down that i have downloaded etc etc. and i’m scared i might forget something and then go into a panic….hope you can help me. Please & thanks!!! — Shane
Solution: Hi Shane. If you can log in to another Facebook account in the app on your S6, that means that the problem may be account specific and not your device itself. The fact that you are also having an issue going to the Security section of your account when using a computer indicates that your Facebook account may have been compromised. We are not aware of any reason why a user will be unable to access Security tab of a Facebook account but it’s clearly an abnormal situation. Try using another device to check if you have full access to your account. If the situation is the same, make sure to report it to Facebook for direct assistance.
Hi Android Guy. I recently upgraded from Galaxy S4 to S6. I use my calendar a lot, for everything. I often add memos for tracking my workouts, and I check them off to indicate that I have completed a certain workout on a particular day. Previously, on S4, when I checked off the tasks, the task showed up as checked off (completed) but remained on the calendar, now the calendar deletes them. Because so many of my memo tasks are repetitive on a weekly bases, I also like to copy/duplicate them and add them on to other dates. I like to keep them instead of deleting them when completed. I used to be able to do this on S4 but now I can’t, really frustrating. Help! — Uzma
Solution: Hi Uzma. We are assuming that you’re using the stock Samsung S Planner app when you say calendar and not any other third party apps out there. For your question, the only answer we can think of is perhaps the feature to retain old memos has been removed. The S Planner app from Samsung has undergone some significant transformations since it was released on the Galaxy S1. Aside from modifications, some carriers also choose to remove some built in Samsung features like writing notes and memos in freehand on the calendar itself. The exact features vary be market and carrier so we can’t really pinpoint if the loss of the past events in your calendar is due to a glitch, or if it’s by design.
We can’t also find reports from other users of S Planner deleting part memos and events so there may be a setting in the app itself that you have missed. Try going over the settings again and see if there’s something that you can do.
Hi. I’ve already added an email account to the Email app but I can’t seem to add a second account which is also an Outlook account. I’ve have also tried to manually set it up but it doesn’t work as I a message saying “authentication failed” appears. I have also typed my password in correctly but don’t know why I can’t seem to add my second account. My previous phone (S3) allowed me to add both accounts without any issues so I don’t know why my S6 isn’t. Could you please help me.
Regards. — Zaynah
Solution: Hi Zaynah. There are a number of reasons why an Android device displays an “authentication failed” error when setting up an email account. The most common causes include, but not limited to:
- intermittent network connection
- mail account is inactive
- incorrect setup or configuration details
- server information is inaccurate
- username and/or password is incorrect
- Server type(POP/IMAP) selected is not supported
- email account-specific problem
Try to setup the email again from scratch and make sure that you do the email configuration correctly. Make sure to check if you have the correct username and password by logging in to your account from another device prior to the setup. Microsoft accounts (including Outlook accounts) must have the correct username during the setup in order to work. For example, you have to make sure to type the entire username as, for example, email@example.com and not as thedroidguy only.
If you continue to experience the same problem, consider contacting Microsoft so they can give you assistance on how to set up their account on an Android device. Or you can visit their support site here.
Phone came without Google Store etc…Did tons of research.
Installed Google Installer, which installed:
- Google Services Framework 4.4.2
- Google Play Services 4034
- Google Play Store 4.5.10
When trying to add an account, it does not connect to Google Servers. I’m at a loss which Play Services version to update to. The S6 has a 580dpi. I am not even sure of the architecture ARM to select the right package. Would love some help. I’d even throw in a few bucks!
Thanks. — Antoine
Solution: Hi Antoine. If your S6 does not have Google Play Store app, it must be rooted and/or running on custom ROM. Have you considered reflashing to stock firmware to get this important app back? For us, this is the most effective way to get the Play Store back.
If you don’t want to reflash, simply use Google to find online sites that keeps the APK file for Google Play Store.
