There are however instances when despite having a powerful hardware the phone experiences some freezing or lag issues. This is what we will aim to resolve today.

S5 Screen Freezes
Problem: When on and in normal operating mode, screen freezes, unable to navigate away from whatever I am doing, unable to power off, or restart. Can only get out by taking the battery out for 1 min and putting back it. However, now, (this has only been happening since last night), I am getting a screen of SNOW or NOISE. I have tried several times to do a scan of my phone, no issues showing. I didn’t think about taking apps off. Now, though, I had it happen once more, took the battery out and tried it, it wont turn on, just opens a NOISE screen. I took the SD card out and the SIM card out to try to turn it on without those, same result.
Solution: I suggest you immediately backup your phone data then do a factory reset using the hardware keys.
Once the factory reset has finished check if the issue still remains. If it does then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Constantly Freezes
Problem:Hi I try to turn’m having so much problem with my galaxy s5 it freeze on me lot and it heat up with I change it and it turn off on its own and When it try to turn on a line appears cross the screen and date is very slow and my phone dieing fast too and when I tap something the keyboard act up and I don’t get my text and call and there times I can use my applications and the list go on.
Solution: One of the main causes of the freezing issue on your device is corrupt data. To check if this is the case here I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone. If the problem still persists then try to take out the microSD card of your phone if one is installed. If this card is corrupt then it can cause your phone to freeze.
If the problem remains unresolved then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Regarding the line that you see across the screen if this is still present after the factory reset then this may already be caused by a faulty display. You may need to have the display replaced at an authorized service center.
S5 Freezes When On Facebook
Problem: When I am in Facebook my screen constantly freezes and I have to restart. When I go back into Facebook I can never find what I was reading. This happened as of recently as I never used to have this problem. Is there any way to fix this? Thank you.
Solution: This problem could be caused by some form of corrupt data in the Facebook app itself. Try to clear the cache and data of the app from the Application Manager. If you are still having the same problem then uninstall the Facebook app and install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
S5 Freezes When Using Keyboard
Problem: My phone freezes the keyboard. And if I restarted it out just well not let me type at all and freezes. And keyboard stays open on home screen and frozen.
Solution: There could be some corrupt data on the keyboard app causing it to freeze. Try clearing the cache and data of the keyboard app from the Application Manager. If the problem still persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.
There are instances when a certain app installed in your phone can cause the keyboard to freeze. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If you don’t experience the problem in this mode then there’s a possibility that it is caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
One last resort you can do is a factory reset if the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem. Just make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
S5 Freezes After Update
Problem: My phone would automatically update if I was near wifi. So it has done some samsung updates and then my phone started flickering and after using my phone for 5 or so minutes it will freeze and the only way I can get it to work again is if I hit the lock button on the side. It continually flickers no matter what. I did a master reset as that is what the phone shop told me to do but still nothing has changed.. except for losing some important stuff on my phone from the reset. Please help
Solution: If your phone still freezes and flickers after performing a factory reset then try to remove the microSD card of your phone if you have one installed then wipe the cache partition.
If the issue persists then the update may be the culprit. Try to revert back to the previous software version by flashing your phone. To do this you will need the previous firmware version of your phone which you can get at SamMobile. You will also need Odin running in your computer. S5 Freezes & Other Issues
Problem: Hi! I just saw your forum online for S5 problems. I’ve been having a problem with my S5 since I first got it from AT&T but since it was brand new, I assumed it was a new model phone, there would be glitches in the software. However recently the problems have kinda progressed and gotten worse and so far these are all the problems I have:
- most apps shut down at random times when I’m using them
- the phone freezes when I’m messaging, usually doesn’t send messages or it takes a long time, and it takes a while to download MMS messages especially when it’s Group chat related
- the battery life drains pretty fast nowadays even though I’m on power saving mode
- some calls don’t go through on my side, and some calls I don’t receive but i get a voicemail, and some drop
- sometimes it restarts randomly
- can no longer delete old messages and messaging just freezes up and I have to restart my phone
- keyboard and emojis take a while to pull up and the screen freezes or the keyboard restarts
- some of my friends don’t receive sent messages from me until a day later sometimes
- apparently store won’t let me access previously download apps even though I am signed into my Google+ account
- Internet tabs crash
It was tolerable before but now it’s gotten so ridiculous that I went to AT&T to address these problems but since I’ve had the phone over a year the warranty doesn’t cover and it costs too much to file a claim and have insurance replace it. It was suggested I do a factory reset but I have too many messages and important files on my phone that I don’t think I can move to a laptop. Is there any way of fixing these problems? Thank you!
Solution: Ideally, you will have to do a factory reset with this many issues affecting your phone. Since this is not an option for you at the moment then the next best thing to do is to wipe the cache partition of your phone.
You should also try to start your phone in Safe Mode then observe if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app or several apps may be causing the problem. I suggest you uninstall some of the apps that you have downloaded then check if these issues still occur.
