Samsung Galaxy S4 Problem After Updating To Lollipop

There’s even reports coming in that Samsung may release the Android Marshmallow update for this device in the second quarter of next year.

S4 Music Player Stops After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hello. I Did the lollipop update in august when it was available on my phone. It was all pretty awesome but one problem was with the music player. Whenever I plugged in the earphones pin into the jack the message “Unfortunately, recommended app has stopped.” appears. Please suggest some solutions. My other issue is that a second update was available yesterday . I installed the update and found that the music player’s equalizer won’t apply the effects give like bass booster nor even the costume was applying. It was able to be selected but in the earphones the effect was not there to be heard. Please send me a solution for this one as well.

Solution: One of the causes of this issue is that the music app may have some corrupt data. Try clearing the cache and data of your music app and see if the problem gets resolved.

If not then you need to check if a third party app installed in your phone is causing this issue. Start your mode in Safe Mode. In this mode only the default apps are loaded while apps that you downloaded and installed are disabled. If you don’t experience the music app stopping in this mode then the problem may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. One final troubleshooting step that is also highly recommended in this case is to do a factory reset. Just make sure that you backup your phone data before performing this procedure.

Regarding the equalizer setting not saving try to check if there are new app updates available for your phone (especially for the music player). If all of your apps are updated and the factory reset done previously fails to resolve the issue then you may have to wait for a new update to arrive as this appears to be a bug in the software.

S4 Random Notification Sound After Lollipop Update

Problem: Two or three days ago, my phone got its first software update since getting Lollipop (this time to 5.0.1). Ever since that, my phone will sound off my default notification tone (Good News) randomly when there’s nothing to notify me of! I’d say the time frame between each tone varies, but is probably at an average of 15-20 minutes or so,  sometimes less. I still get notifications when there is something to notify me of (whether something set for default tone or a different tone), but I’m continuously hearing the default tone over and over.  What’s going on and what can I do? Please help!

Solution: This issue is usually caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then observe if the issue still persists. If it does then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Equalizer Not Working After Lollipop Update

Problem: After the lollipop update my built in equaliser is not working neither is the adapt sound option working . I can only turn the volume up and down.

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by the data from the old software version which is still present in your device. This data should have been removed during the update process but for some reason has been left behind and is causing a conflict with the new software. To effectively remove this old software data you will need to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your personal data first before proceeding as this will be deleted in the process.

S4 Not Coming Out Of Standby After Lollipop Update

Problem: After recent upgrade my phone sometimes refuses to come out of standby. I have taken the battery out along with the sim and SD card and waited thirty secs (along with holding the power button). This works for a few days then blank again when I press home button to bring it out of standby. Any suggestions? Thanks

Solution: There’s a chance that this issue is caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.

If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Not Connecting To Wi-Fi Network

Problem: Hey there, i’ve been having this issue with my galaxy s4 ever since i updated it back in august. having ignored it up to this point it is starting to really grate on me. anyways, the issue has to do with its connection to proxy networks. I attend university, where the wifi server has a student specific entry for use. my phone allows me to enter in my username and password and then attempts to connect but after about 5 mins, it fails and forgets my information, i assume because it believes it is invalid. If there are any ways to fix it that would really be great, as i have up to this point not found anyone with the same problem.

Solution: This could be caused by a glitch during the update. Try checking on your Wi-Fi settings first and see if this issue gets resolved.

First, make sure that you are entering the correct username and password. If possible, approach the IT department of your university and have them reset your password.

Second, sometimes switching Wi-Fi channels helps resolve this problem. Go to your phone Wi-Fi settings and under the Advanced settings go to Wi-Fi frequency band. Try switching between the automatic, 5GHz only, and 2.4 Ghz only bands and see which one works best for your university network.

Third, try to check if your university network is using a DHCP or static IP setting and make the necessary changes on your phone.

If your phone Wi-Fi settings are all correct then the next step is to assume that the software update caused this issue. If this is the case then you should wipe the cache partition of your phone first.

If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Back Button Not Working After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hi , today i update my samsung galaxy 4 at new software (5.0.1) and after software update my back button doesn’t work , i try to reset to factory settings but the problem doesn’t disappear. Please help me , thank you a lot .

Related Problem: The back and menu down the screen doesnt work at all although i reseted my phone i deleted all the files i think it’s because of the software update

Solution: Some owners of this device who are having this same problem say that it occurs if an Exchange / ActiveSync account is setup on the stock email app. Try to remove the account and see if the button works.

You should also try to go to settings > my device > display > touch key light duration then set it to 1.5 seconds.
