S4 Randomly Restarts Does Not Turn On
Problem: My phone keeps turning off by itself. Sometimes when I try to turn it on, it works, other times it doesn’t. It does not respond to my pressing of the power button. If I leave it and come back some time later, it may or may not work. I had it turned on in safe mode and it stayed on the whole night. This morning I quit safe mode and went into normal mode, after leaving it aside for an hour, it turned off by itself again. Please help! – distressed android supporter
Solution: My initial assessment of this problem you have with your phone is that it is caused by some sort of software glitch since you mentioned that it does not occur if your phone is in Safe Mode. Start by checking the possibility that a third party app you installed is causing this problem. Do you recall the last app you installed before this problem started? That app may be causing the problem. Try to uninstall that app.
You may also want to try to wipe the cache partition of your phone from recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device which if corrupt can also cause this issue.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail, then I suggest you perform a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this as it will be deleted in the process.
S4 Does Not Turn On
Problem: My phone randomly turned off and I couldn’t get it to switch back on. I have tried all the options to reset and get my phone to turn back on but nothing works. I had replaced my battery a month ago and my phone before and after this used to always randomly restart. Please could you offer some advice. Thanks.
Solution: When you mentioned that you did a reset was this a soft reset or a hard reset? If you haven’t performed a hard reset yet, then I suggest you do this using the phone hardware keys. Just make sure that you have backed up the data stored in your phone before performing this procedure.
Once the reset has finished check if you can now turn on your phone.
You should also try to connect the wall charger to your phone then check if it turns on with the charger connected. If it does, then the battery of your phone may not be providing the correct voltage output. I suggest you get a new battery and see if the issue gets resolved.
Another factor that may cause this problem is that the phone software may already be corrupt. To resolve this problem, you will need to flash your phone software. To do this you need a copy of your phone firmware which you can get over at the SamMobile website. You will also need the latest version of Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
In case flashing your phone software does not work then the problem may already be hardware related. If this is the case, then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center.
S4 Does Not Boot Up
Problem: Phone is s4 active. When I try to reset the phone again it shows error. it has no operating system. when I try to put on the phone it first stops at the Samsung logo with something like a padlock at the bottom with cost mark at the bottom when I press the volume bottom a message came up saying serious error with the operation system. please help me
Solution: This issue could already be caused by a corrupt software. Have you tried starting your phone in Safe Mode? If you haven’t yet, then I suggest you do so now. If your phone boots normally then a third party app you installed may be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If you can’t start your phone in Safe Mode, then try to access the recovery mode of your phone. From there try to wipe the cache partition of your device first. If that does not work, then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that the factory reset will delete your phone data.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem, then you need to flash your phone software. To do this you will need a copy of your phone firmware which you can download over at the SamMobile website. You also need the latest version of Odin installed in your computer. To get the specific procedure on how to flash your device I suggest you check the popular Android forums online.
S4 Does Not Turn On After Thrown To Ground
Problem: I threw my phone on the ground, pieces may have fallen out, and now it wont turn on. Do I need the microSD thing located in the Samsung’s back?
Solution: You don’t need the microSD card or SIM card to turn on your phone. What you need is the battery. Check if the battery is in its proper place. Make sure that the battery contacts touch the phone battery contact points.
If you still can’t turn on your phone, then the shock from the drop may have damaged some hardware component in your phone. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Does Not Boot After Clearing Cache
Problem: I wanted to update software but couldn’t because it said my phone was modified. Then I followed some troubleshooting advice to clear cache through recovery mode but after that my phone just wouldn’t reboot properly. Screen is blank but keeps showing error message that my apps has stopped. Almost every app.
Solution: In this case I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset since the issue may be caused by a software glitch.
S4 Stuck In Boot Logo
Problem: hello, I have a galaxy s4, its been working fine, until 2 days ago when occasionally it restarted alone, then yesterday it fell on the ground, not that high if I may say, n the battery was out since then its stuck on the company logo n then blank then back to logo n so on, I tried to pull out the battery n putting it back, it will go the logo before I can turn it on. I tried that volume up+home+power, nothing if I try volume down it asks me if I want to download the custom os but that its dangerous. so what does custom os mean? and plz help me to get my phone back. I really don’t want to lose my data, what can I do?
Solution: The sudden drop coupled with the battery taken may have caused the phone software to become corrupt. What I suggest is you try to access recovery mode first. Once in recovery mode try wiping the cache partition of your phone.
Check if your phone can now successfully boot up. If it doesn’t then try to start your phone in Safe Mode. If it boots up properly in this mode, then the issue may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that this deletes the data stored I your phone so only consider doing this if you have recently made a backup of your phone data.
