Note 4 Text Message Sending Pending, Lag After Software Update
Problem: Hi, Unfortunately having a number of issues just over the last few days, I believe it may have had something to do with the Software update that also happened a few days ago.
1) my txt messages are not sending, just stuck “pending”
2) my system seems to have developed serious lag and delay on anything I do, writing a message, opening up an app, turning it on, it is very delayed,
3) my messages on whatsapp are not coming through, nor my normal notifications from things like ebay, FB, when they normally would unless I tapped into the app
4) my battery and device is becoming very hot and my battery is draining in less than a day.
Please, please, please can you help me. I have restarted the system, taken my battery out and sim, uninstalled apps and nothing seems to be helping. Thank you!
Solution: If you noticed these issues occurring right after the software update then there’s a big possibility that the update is the main cause. In cases such as this the main culprit is the data of the old software version not completely removed during the update. This then causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in these issues.
I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone first. This deletes the temporary data of your phone which usually resolves the issue.
If the problem persists then you will have to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 4 Contact List Is Being Updated After Software Update
Problem: After Android in my Note 4 was updated, I have the following problem. When I open my contacts, I have no contacts and the following message is displayed: “Contact list is being updated”. This was happened from 2 days ago and still the pb. is found. Please tell the solution. Best Regards
Related Problem: Today my phone updated with operating system v 5.1.1 after i am unable to open my contacts it’s just giving me error contact list being updated please help
Related Problem: This morning my phone underwent a software upgrade, we encountered power outage but the download was complete. I was prompted to “install”, and then a notification that my phone will restart popped up. I clicked “”ok””. Now I go to contacts “Contact list is being updated” is what appears and it has been hours since this happened. Wifi and electricity have since been restored. Kindly help.
Solution: Several owners of this device who have updated their phone software have also experienced this very same problem. Generally, this is caused by a syncing issue where your phone is syncing the contacts list with your account online. You should first try to restart your phone and see if this resolves the problem. If it doesn’t then pull down the notification bar by swiping your fingers downward from the top of the screen. Search for the sync button then turn it off. Restart your phone again. This should resolve the issue.
If the problem persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. Proceed with clearing the cache and data of the Contacts Storage app (not Contacts) from the Application Manager. Follow this up by manually syncing your contacts.
- Open Contacts.
- Click on the three dots
- Choose Accounts.
- Choose the account where your contacts are saved.
- Touch More options.
- Tap Sync now.
Note 4 Battery Drain, Internet Slow After Software Update
Problem: Ever since i updated to the latest version of Android, i have had problems with both the internet and the battery life of the Note 4. The system is always awake now and that drains the battery very quickly compared to before the update. I have power saving mode on, but this is not helping. I have turned off all applications and turned the screen off, but the phone remains in ‘awake’ mode. I have also had problems with speed of the internet, especially related to Google search and the play market, but also in Facebook and chrome as well. I tested the internet on Speedtest.net and i have a speed of around 30mbps. Both issues are obviously related to the software update, so what do i need to do about it. I’m not going to do another factory reset, as that is not a solution, but an excuse. I have cleared the cache though, but have not had any results.
Solution: What’s happening right now is that there may still be some data from the old software version left in your phone. This data is normally removed during the update process but sometimes it gets left behind and if it does it causes some issues right after the update has finished.
The best way to get rid of this old data is to perform a factory reset. You should however backup your personal data stored in the phone before proceeding with this.
Note 4 Heats Up After Software Update
Problem: Hey, well i got my Note 4 the day before yesterday, the phone came with 5.0.1, so what i did, set it up, and while i was doing it i realised the phone was hot. I put the phone down to let it install all the apps, after that i updated the phone for 5.1.1, now the thing is i spoke with some people and they say it’s normal on the snapdragon version, and i do not have to be worried… well i guess i have to worry and i don’t think it’s normal. It heats up mostly when i watch youtube videos for a long time, by the way i was expecting more of this battery, i get 5 hours. Should i go back to the store and ask for a new device? Or my device is ok and i have to get used to it? Hope i gave enough detail.
Solution: You will need to do some troubleshooting steps first to determine if this is a software or a hardware related problem. If it is software related then this can be fixed on your end however if it is a hardware problem then you may have to replace your phone.
What you need to do is to start your phone fresh. Backup your phone data first then do a factory reset using the hardware keys of your phone. Once the factory reset is complete do not install any apps yet. You can however update the existing pre-installed apps that is installed in your phone.
Make sure your phone is fully charged. Ideally you should get around 10 hours of web browsing time or 17 hours of video playback time. Try to check if your phone battery life is around this number.
If you stream videos for a long time then the phone will generate a considerable amount of heat. While this is normal what is not normal is if the heat becomes unbearable. Check if the heat issue exists when you are on YouTube.
If the issues disappear after a factory reset then the problem may just be caused by a glitch in the phone software. If however the issue persists this may already be a hardware related problem in which case you should bring it back to the store.
Note 4 Does Not Complete Software Update
Problem: My husband I purchased our Notes together. I have always done the updates with no problems. Recently, we both woke up to find our phones updating. His went through fine. Me, not so much. My phone will go through all the steps to do the update but when it turns on after rebooting, it says that it was interrupted and the update failed. I have tried to use the Kies, however since I purchased my phone I have never been able to get it to work. It always says it was interrupted and failed. Now when I open Kies, it says to use Smart Switch, which I have tried and I am getting the same message; the operation failed and it was not able to perform the task I am trying to do. The problem is that every time my phone connects itself to a strong WiFi, it wants to start downloading the update which burns my battery out and it just will not complete. Can you please, please help me? Thank you so much!
Solution: Since the other phone updated fine then we can eliminate any Internet connection related issues that may be causing the problem. The most likely reason why this is happening to your phone is that there may be some corrupt data in your phone that is preventing the update to complete.
To resolve this issue I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone first then check if the update pushes through.
If it doesn’t then you will have to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
