Note 4 Battery Drains Rapidly

Problem: My battery works fine until it reaches 30% then it drains rapidly it reaches 1% in less than a minute

Solution: This issue could be caused by a faulty battery. You should however check first if your phone software is causing this problem. If this is a software related problem then it will most likely be caused by some form of corrupt data or a rogue app that is using up your system resources making your battery drain quicker. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first and check if the issue disappears. If the issue remains unresolved then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the factory reset do not install any apps yet. Observe your phone first. Fully charge your device then use it normally. If you still have the same problem then now is a good time to get a new battery.

Note 4 Charge Does Not Last Long

Problem: Its been a month that i bought my samsung note 4 and it’s been two days that my device does not keep charge as before. It keep the charge only for less than 8 hours. I charged it once in 24 hours all this month but since yesterday it turns out after 8 hours. I don’t use any new app or anything. But to be more detailed i should mention that my keyboard is slow and when i scroll up and down in internet and other programs it’s slow too. And by the way my device also get charged faster. It was 2.5 min for 1% before but now it takes less than 1 min for 1%. Please please help me.

Solution: It looks like the charge issue your phone is experiencing is caused by some form of corrupt data judging by the slow operation of your keyboard. It also doesn’t appear to be a battery problem since the phone is only a month old however you should not discount this possibility as well.

I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone first This procedure clears out the temporary data stored in your phone which if corrupt can cause this type of issue. If the problem persists then start your phone in Safe Mode. You will be able to check if an app you installed is causing the problem since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then I suggest you find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then do a factory reset using the hardware keys. Take note that you should backup your phone data first.

Finally, if the problem still persists then try using a new battery on your phone.

Note 4 Charge Drains Fast

Problem: My issue is that as soon as I take my phone off the fast charge,  the battery life already starts to go down. For example,  if I am just checking text messages or Facebook,  within  approximately  less than hour of charging, it would be  at 85 % or below.   I’m trying to determine what can solve the issue before buying another battery,  charger or worse,  another phone.

Solution: There are three things you need to check first before concentrating on the hardware side of your phone. First, you need to check if the problem is caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. If this is the case then you just need to wipe the cache partition of your device. This clears out the temporary data in your phone.

If the problem persists then you need to check if a rogue app is causing this problem. Sometimes an app that has a bug may constantly use up your phone resources causing  your battery to drain quickly. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while those apps you downloaded are disabled. If the battery drain problem disappears then the problem is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. Finally, one other thing that you should consider is that a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem. If this is the case then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after the factory reset the battery drain issue still occurs then I suggest you get a new battery as the one you have right now may already be defective.

Note 4 Erratic Battery Life After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hi i’ve been having a battery issue for a while now after the upgrade to lollipop my phone says it has 39 % left on the battery then it shuts down  when it comes back on its at 0% then it just keep shutting down and turning back on over and over I took the battery out put it back in and turned it back on and it said 39% again. I fully recharged  the battery and cleared the phone catch but it is still shutting itself off at 39 to 42 % I don’t   I think it’s a software problem not battery problem but not sure what to do next help

Solution: Try checking first if any of your installed apps have an update available. To do this just go to the Google Play Store then click on the My Apps section. You will see a list of your apps that have an available update.

If all of our apps are already updated and the problem still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended troubleshooting step that needs to be done whenever issues arise after a software update.

Note 4 Battery Does Not Hold Charge

Problem: When it updated it turns off randomly and i charge my phone when it is off so it charges to 100% and then when i turn it on and like 4 hours into the day it dies. It never holds a charge. So i went to the T-Mobile store and they just sent me a new one so when i got the new one about 4 hours into having the new phone it keeps doing the same thing. Please help on any advice that you may have.

Solution: Did T-Mobile replace your phone with a new phone? Or is this a refurbished phone that they gave you? If you got a new phone then the problem should not occur anymore. However since the problem still remains I suggest you troubleshoot the software first by backing up your data then doing a factory reset. Once the factory reset is completed fully charge your phone then observe its battery life. If you see any improvement then the problem may be caused by a glitch in the phone software. If the problem persists then I suggest you get a new battery and replace the battery your phone is using.

Note 4 Fast Charging Option Missing After Lollipop Update

Problem: Just did a Samsung software update yesterday and now there is no fast charging option in settings under battery. Did Samsung remove it or am I doing something wrong?

Solution: Try following this procedure

  • Tap apps
  • Tap Settings
  • Select Power saving
  • Enable the Fast charging option
