Note 4 App Crashes After Software Update

Problem: My phone has recently updated to the lollipop 5.0.1 version.  Ever since then it has been crashing.  Apps closing, battery draining super fast and pages and apps loading very slow.  Please help because this is really frustrating.

Solution: The most likely culprit behind this problem is that data from the old software version is still stuck in your phone. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version which results in these issues that your phone is experiencing.

To resolve this start by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Facebook Crashes

Problem: Everytime I click on a link in Facebook for a website it opens the page, but doesn’t fully load.  You can still view the page, but it continues to try to load it, then crashes.  It freezes the phone and won’t respond.  It happens with any blog or site that I “like” on Facebook.  When they share a link to their site, and I click on it it ends up in a half loaded page and then it crashes.

Solution: It looks like some form of corrupt temporary data within the Facebook app itself is causing this problem. Try clearing the cache and data of the Facebook app and check if this resolves the problem. If the issue persists then I suggest you uninstall the Facebook app and download the latest version from the Google Play Store.

Note 4 Google Play Has Stopped Working

Problem: Hello. My Note 4 (N910A), which is running KitKat 4.4.4, has constantly been slow and laggy, even after I just factory reset it. One common issue is that about once every hour, or sometimes more, an error pops up that says “Google Play has stopped working”, which is then immediately followed by “com.google.process.gapps has stopped.” I am not too sure on why this is happening, as I can’t diagnose it to any specific apps that I have. Google Play still works fine, and I can download apps whenever I want. However, this seems to happen very often, and I am not sure why. Another issue I am having is that my phone is running much slower than it was about 3 months ago. I didn’t make any major, or even minor, changes since then. It just seems to have slowed down for no reason at all. The factory reset didn’t help this either. Sometimes my battery has issues too, where it says 10%, then all of the sudden it drops to 2%, and then shuts down. I can then turn it back on and the battery will be back at 10% or so. Thanks for any tips and help.

Solution: You mentioned that your phone is still running on Android KitKat 4.4.4. I suggest you update this to Android Lollipop first before doing any troubleshooting.  This may help resolve the issue since the factory reset does not seem to work.

Regarding the problem with the battery losing charge iIt looks like it is already faulty and is not holding the correct charge anymore. I suggest you try replacing your battery with a new one.

Note 4 Apps Closing Randomly

Problem: Apps closing out randomly, battery life, heat radiating from device when plugged in, and I am trying to find out what happens when you do a factory reset. Also which backup utilities do you suggest for backing up to computer

Solution: A factory reset is one of the best ways to deal with this issue. When you factory reset your device reverts back to its original condition when it was new. Any app you downloaded and installed will be gone. The data ( such as photos, videos, music) stored in the internal storage of your phone will be gone as well. Only the pre-installed apps will be available once the factory reset is complete.

As for your second question the best way to backup your phone is to use Kies. You can download this software from the Samsung website and install it in your computer. This allows you to easily backup the data stored in your phone.

Note 4 Crashes After Taking Picture

Problem: While taking pictures  with camera flash on , my phone crashes after taking a picture  … and I have to take battery out of phone to get it to come back on.

Solution: This problem could be caused by some form of corrupt data in the camera app. Try clearing the cache and data of the camera app then check if the problem persists. If it does then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

In some cases an app you installed can also cause this problem. To find out if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. Take a picture in this mode. If the problem does not occur then it’s most likely caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last resort that you should consider doing if the above troubleshooting steps fail is a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
