Huawei’s new technology charges a 3,000 mAh battery by nearly 50% in just five minutes

Huawei Logo

#Huawei has always been actively involved in innovating with its products and offerings. The company has already made tremendous inroads with its custom made Kirin SoCs and it seems like the company might have something to show in the battery department as well.

The Chinese manufacturer has successfully managed to demonstrate its equivalent of the quick charge technology, showing how quickly a battery can be charged using its home grown technology.

In the demo, the company is using a separate charging accessory to juice up the battery on a Huawei smartphone, which manages to restore up to 50% of the battery in just five minutes of charging.

We’re guessing the charging accessory is of a higher capacity than usual, so it will be interesting to see how the company will utilize this feature with regular charging adapters. The battery used during this test was a 3,000 mAh unit.

Another test compares how a normal smartphone with a standard adapter charges compared to the company’s new quick charge unit. A 600 mAh battery was used in this test.

The company is yet to offer clarification on when and how this feature will be utilized with its smartphones. In my experience, phones that charge very quickly also have the tendency to drain pretty quickly, so we’re hoping that won’t be the case with this technology here.
