Here’s why you shouldn’t buy the OnePlus X in the U.S.

OnePlus X

The #OnePlusX smartphone is available for purchase in the U.S. through the company’s infamous invite only system. But there are a few things that customers might want to know before making the investment on this device.

Since OnePlus hasn’t partnered with any carriers for the release of the device, the handset is available off contract and is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile’s GSM frequencies. However, one major caveat here as The Verge found is that the smartphone doesn’t support one of AT&T’s most commonly used 4G LTE frequencies (700 MHz / Band 17).

As for T-Mobile users, the device isn’t compatible with Band 12 yet, which is quickly becoming a popular network frequency among its consumer base. This essentially means that users will have to settle for HSPA networks given the lack of hardware support. It is important to note that this issue is only limited to the U.S. and other LTE markets should face no problem.

Are you planning to get the OnePlus X? Will this affect your decision to get the handset in the U.S.?
