ZTE claims the Huawei Nexus 6P design was stolen from one of its devices

ZTE Athena - Huawei Nexus 6P

The #Huawei #Nexus6P smartphone was unveiled just a few days ago by #Google. The handset has already made its way to the controversy with Chinese manufacturer #ZTE accusing Huawei of stealing the design of the Nexus 6P from the ZTE Athena.

At first glance, it’s understandable as to why ZTE would think Huawei borrowed design cues from the company. However, short of the black bar on the back panel, there really isn’t anything else in common with the two devices. But then again, that can also be considered stealing as the company put it.

It is yet to be seen if ZTE will take legal recourse for this and we don’t see why not. Ultimately, this isn’t an issue that would get resolved overnight and given the relatively lenient patent laws in China, we won’t be surprised if the entire issue fizzles out in a couple of weeks.

Do you find the two devices to be similar? Sound off in the comments section below.
