T-Mobile vows to update 17 devices from various OEMs to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Fresh from reception related issues after the Android 6.0 update on the Nexus 5, T-Mobile has now joined forces with a handful of manufacturers to send out the coveted Android 6.0 update to 17 different devices (including tablets). The list includes devices from manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola (Nexus 6).

By offering information on a software update, T-Mobile is trying to change the trend in the industry which rarely sees carrier involvement with regards to software updates. The carrier hasn’t specified the update rollout date for all of its devices, but it seems like the updates will be streamlined and sent out as soon as the manufacturers make it available.

Here’s how T-Mobile narrows it down:

  • Manufacturer Development: T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update.
  • T-Mobile Testing: During this stage the device will go through T-Mobile certification process testing to make sure you get the best quality software possible.
  • Complete: The software has been approved to launch and is now available.

And these are the phones/tablets that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update:
