There are a lot of posts online suggesting ways to fix the “Not Registered on Network” error on Samsung Galaxy S6 (#Samsung #GalaxyS6) but the thing is it’s never in the phone but either with the SIM card (GSM) or with the network (CDMA). The error simply means the phone can’t be recognized by the system so it gets no service at all.
I have addressed several call related issues with the Galaxy S6 in this post, so if you’re bugged by an issue or two, check out the issues below as I may have already tackled your problem. Read on to learn more of these problems as you may encounter one of them in the future.

Problem: My Galaxy S6 says the network name once rebooted then immediately it says on service or emergency calls only. When I try to call someone it says not registered on network. Please help. I have tried many solutions with no luck.
Suggestion: The “Not Registered on Network” error is often associated with a defective SIM card especially for GSM users and a provisioning issue for CDMA. If you’ve tried a lot of things to fix this problem to no avail, perhaps it’s time you consider calling your network provider and have your SIM card replaced or your phone provisioned (again).
Problem: My phone reboots during calls. It does not do it always but majority of times. I have not at all changed any settings or installed any ROMs.
Troubleshooting: It’s actually difficult for us to determine the cause of this problem but try to observe the device to know if it reboots even if not during calls as there’s a chance it’s a battery problem if that’s the case. However, if it only behaves like this whenever the phone app is used, then try clearing the cache and data of the Dialer app first and if that won’t work, try the master reset. At this point, we don’t know what’s wrong with your phone but the key to finding the culprit is keen observation and there’s no one that could do that but you.
The master reset is the most viable solution for now especially if the phone was functioning properly before until as of late.
- Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6.
- Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
- When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
- Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
- Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
- Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
- After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Problem: It won’t stay charged but I also swipe to answer my calls and it won’t pick up. I have to call people back all the time because my phone won’t answer any calls.
Troubleshooting: There’s, obviously, something lacking here–you didn’t tell us what happened to the phone or when did this problem start. I am, however, sure that your device was working properly before until this problem happened, otherwise, you shouldn’t have contacted us but went to your provider or retailer and have it replaced.
My suspicion though, is that the phone suffered liquid damage that’s why it won’t charge and the touchscreen might have also been affected but I could be wrong. The best thing to do for it now is to send it in for repair. It needs to be properly observed and checked by a technician.
Problem: After a few minutes talking, I suddenly can not hear the other person speaking. They can hear me but I can not hear them. Resolved if I go to speakerphone. Happens intermittently. Perhaps every 10th call or so. Usually after at least a few minute conversation. Most annoying and carrier has no idea. Thank you for any confirmation, experience and hopefully advice you may have.
Suggestion: It’s a faulty earpiece! It might be as minor as loose connection or it can be anything else. The point is, it’s a hardware issue and you need somebody who can properly check it. Send it in for repair or have it replaced instead.
Problem: Person on the other end of a call cannot hear me only when I am using the WIFI feature (calls by wifi). Good strong wifi signal.I have stood next to the router…still they cannot hear me. The person on the other end hears static.
I have reported this to T-Mobile for the second time…they are working it now. Other S6 phones at the house do not appear to have the problem. Thoughts?
Suggestion: The Wi-Fi Calling feature is still a very young service and may contain a lot of bugs and/or problems. It’s a good thing you already reported this to your carrier so as of now, the best thing to do is to wait until T-Mo can provide you with a resolution as it seems like a service issue.
Problem: When a call comes in it rings twice and go directly to voicemail. Have been to Samsung about 6 times and changed the gear watch. Thought that was the problem. Does not work.
Suggestion: Don’t get stressed over this problem as it’s not an issue with the phone but with the service. As long as Voicemail is properly setup on your phone using the data provided by your provider, there’s not much you can do about the calls going straight to VM. Call your provider, report the problem and troubleshoot with the representative if necessary.
Problem: When making calls I can hear them and they can hear me. Then my phone will like mute me out so they can not hear me. And then it goes back to operating normally.
Troubleshooting: It might be a glitch. In fact, you’re not the only one having this problem. A factory or master reset may be able to fix this issue.
It could also help if you check the hole at the bottom of the phone where the microphone is located. Try to find if dirt corrodes the hole and if so, clean it up and the problem will be fixed.
Problem: Just updated my phone this afternoon. Now I cannot make or receive calls. I receive the message “The number you have called is not assigned. Please check the number and try again.” All other aspects of the phone are working normally. Internet, Texts, WiFi, location.
Troubleshooting: It’s with the network side; you need to call your service provider and submit a support ticket. There were some owners who suggested disabling LTE would fix or, at least, allow them to make outgoing calls so try that if you badly need to call out a number but for the permanent fix, only your provider can do something on their end.
Problem: When I’m on the phone if somebody calls me it gives a busy signal! It does not let me know that somebody has called and doesn’t give the caller the option to leave a message!
Suggestion: Sounds like your phone number has been temporarily disabled for some reason. Nothing you can do about it except call your service provider; it’s them that can rectify things for you.
Problem: If I’m using the web or the Facebook app and someone tries to call me it doesn’t ring on my end. People have to txt me and tell me to call them or they will tell me at a later time I tried to call you on such and such day but you didn’t answer. This is very annoying. I’m afraid to do anything on my phone if I am expecting a call for fear of missing it.
Troubleshooting: This problem is similar to an issue wherein all calls go straight to voicemail and when it comes to this, it’s your service provider that can do something for you. Your number needs to be reactivated not that it’s been disabled. It could be a system issue (network side) and we don’t have access to those things. Call your provider and report the problem.
Problem: The device keeps dropping Wi-Fi calling connectivity I have swapped out several phones now and nothing seems to be working I have even performed hard reset and factory reset any idea what might be causing this and how to fix it it’s rather annoying and very undependable I am also even went as far to purchase a new wireless router but that did not help I have spoken to sprint on several occasions and all they can do is keep swapping the phones out.
Answer: The Wi-Fi calling service is still in early stage and while it’s a good feature, it needs improvement. That said, it’s no coincidence that a lot of units have the same exact problem; it’s obviously a service issue. Unless Sprint acknowledges it, there will be no proper resolution to this problem. Instead, the company will just keep swapping phones.
