Every phone has its story. We create great memories with it. We love our phone so much that we are inclined to take care of it. However, no matter how we ever cautiously use it, a time would come that it goes out on us. Take the case of the proud owners who sent us emails regarding their personal issues with their phones. We have addressed their concerns in this post and hope it will do the same to yours. I have specifically tackled about power issues as this is very common and happens to everyone. What to do in this situation? Our first reaction is to panic which is pretty normal. Once the initial reaction fades, we think it through and search for a solution. There are random ways that we can try to alleviate the situation and get our phones to work again. Here are some tips on how to #resolve #power and #charging issues.
- Charge the phone. This is the very basic thing to do and what common sense would suggest as the first thing to try once we find out that our device is not turning on. Maybe the battery is just completely drained.
- Remove and reinsert the battery. This will refresh the battery’s connection to the device and kick start the charge. This will also get rid of the possibility of a loose battery. This can resolve simple power issues as well.
- Attempt to power on the phone. Push the power button down and hold it in for five seconds or more and see if you can get a response. This step helps to further isolate the case and tailor the troubleshooting based on the result. From here we can already tell what’s really wrong with it.
- Send the phone in for repair. If nothing works on your end, then the last thing to do is send the device in for repair and consultation. Bring it to Samsung’s service center if you are still within the manufacturer’s warranty so you’d get a free fix.

Problem # 1: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge fails to charge due to a power sharing app
Good Evening. I hope you are well. My S6 Edge has been working and charging without a problem for the last couple of months but now, sometimes it charges and other times it doesn’t. I have checked and tried new chargers but to no avail. From what I have read online, it has something to do with the power sharing app which I keep getting pop ups all the time. My phone was able to charge via fast charging before. I hope you can help me work this out as I think this power sharing app has disabled my phone’s charging facilities and is causing issues. Solution: Hi Sabeeha. What specific power sharing app are you referring to? Have you installed this app or did it just randomly popped up on your screen? Since you have tried different chargers and it resulted to the same thing, we can conclude that it has nothing to do with your chargers nor the USB cable. There is a possibility though that the charging port on your phone maybe acting up. Have you tried completely rebooting your device before charging it? I mean completely taking the battery out for a few minutes? You may want to try that first as most uncomplicated hardware and software issues can be resolved by just a simple reboot. To cover all the angles, you may want to check under your applications tab for the power sharing app. If you don’t use it at all, consider removing it from your phone. To uninstall the app, you need to go under Settings> Apps and look for the specified app under the All list. Reboot your phone once done and try to charge it. The issue should be resolved by then. If not, the issue may indeed lie with the charging port. If it was not resolved by the complete reboot, you have to contact Samsung Customer Support for further assistance. They may end up replacing your unit.
Problem # 2: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge won’t turn on but shows horizontal lines

Solution: Hello Tosin. This only happens if your battery is completely drained out. Have you tried charging your phone? If so, did it show any signs of charging? You may want to take the battery out for a couple of minutes and replace it afterwards. Make sure that your phone is charged before attempting to turn it on. If it is still not showing any signs of reviving, that means that your device is dead. It could be an issue with the battery or the power mechanisms of your phone. Since this involves extensive troubleshooting, calling Samsung Customer Support is highly recommended at this point. Problem # 3: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge lights up every ten seconds while charging
Hi. I have discovered a problem with my S6 Edge wherein when charging, the phone thinks the power button has been depressed. This means the screen will lit up every 10 seconds or so. Have you had any experience with this problem? Kind regards. – Tim
Solution: Hi Tim. This looks like a setting activated to let you know that your phone is still charging. This has not been classified as an issue with a Samsung device. As long as your power button looks okay and functions properly, then there’s no need to worry about it. You may want to check under Settings and see if there’s a function activated that may have caused this. It could also be due to an app that you have installed recently especially the ones that involves power and charging. If this is really bugging you, then consider resetting your device to factory settings. This will totally clean up your device and will make your phone good as new. Hello the droid guy. My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge won’t turn on. It has a blank screen and a blinking green LED. I’ve tried charging it for over more than 10 to 20 minutes and no charge has popped up. Solution: Hi Eric. You did make sure that the charger is working properly and is not loosely connected right? I bet you already tried holding the power button down for five seconds or so and still nothing happened? Did you touch it while it’s charging? If it’s hot then that means that it is attempting to charge. The blinking green light also serves as notification that an activity is ongoing with the device. Did your phone fall recently? There is a big chance that this issue is related to your screen. Did you hear a startup sound while attempting to charge your device? The best way to go about this is to seek professional assistance from a technician or contact Samsung Customer Support. It’s either the battery or the screen’s LED.
