Note 4 Keyboard Lag When Texting

Problem: Hello,  My keyboard is getting sticky after updating to 5.1.1 . It will sometimes not register the key I press. Really annoying.. not smooth anymore. Makes me wanna switch to iPhone which I hate, but I need something that’s good and smooth with texting.

Solution: A keyboard lag is usually caused by the temporary data stored in the keyboard app itself. Go to your Application Manager from Settings then look for your keyboard app. Once you have found the keyboard app clear its cache and data. You can also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone.

Since this problem occurred right after a software update it is also highly recommended that you backup your phone data and do a factory reset if the initial troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the issue.

Note 4 Delay In Receiving Group Texts

Problem: When I’m doing group text, I received delay text message from my friends.. for example if I Send a message at 9:10 am 5 minutes later it says that my friend sent a message at 9:05am but I didn’t receive it after 9:15am.. it happens with iPhone and Droid phones, multiple carriers and it only happens on group text..thanks.

Solution: Group messaging normally uses a data connection and is sent or received as an MMS. If you are experiencing a delay in receiving a group text then make sure that you have a good mobile data connection. Try checking if this issue occurs when you are in only one particular area. If this problem occurs in only one area then it may be a network related issue.

Moving to the phone you should try using a different app when sending and receiving a group text. I suggest using Hangouts. Check if the delay still occurs.

If there is no delay then the stock messaging app you are using may have a problem. Try clearing the cache and data of this app.

Note 4 Not Sending Or Receiving MMS

Problem: Cannot download mms messaging and i cannot send mms messaging. Regular texting works fine.

Solution: There are several factors that your phone needs to meet before you can send or receive an MMS. First, you should have a mobile data subscription. Second, your phone mobile data should be switched on. Third, your phone should be using the correct APN settings.

Since you are using the Sprint network check if the settings listed below matches the one set in your phone. Make the necessary changes if necessary.

  • Name: Sprint
  • APN: cinet.spcs
  • Proxy: blank
  • Username: blank
  • Password: blank
  • Server: blank
  • MMSC: http://mms.sprintpcs.com/servlets/mms
  • MMS Proxy: 68.28.31.7
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MMC: 234
  • MNC: 15
  • Authentication type: not set
  • APN Type: internet + mms
  • APN Protocol: IPv4
  • APN enable/disable: blank

Note 4 Not Getting Text Message From Specific Contact

Problem: I can send and receive messages with the exception from this one person. When ever he sends a text, I get His name and “MMS”. I can switch from the default messaging to something like google hangouts There I can see his messages. But not in the default messaging application. I can send him text messages or MMS with no problem.

Solution: Since this issue does not occur when using Hangouts then this problem is most likely caused by a glitch in your stock messaging app. Try clearing the cache and data of your messaging app and see if this resolves the problem.

Note 4 Text Message Sent Not Received

Problem: I can send text messages but no one receives them. I have an unlimited data plan and I have been reporting the issue to sprint, we have done a soft reset, the checked the network, I entered a code to reset my phone but I was told by the last Sprint service that I can’t send multiple text messages because of a new law and that my messages are considered spam????? Please help.

Solution: Try sending yourself a text message and see if your text messages are indeed being sent. If you can’t receive your text message then there may be a network related block on your account. Since Sprint mentioned that your messages are considered spam you may not be aware that your phone is sending out text messages on its own. This usually occurs when a phone is infected with malware.

I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset to eliminate the possibility of a malware causing this problem.

You may also have to get a new SIM card from your network if this issue persists.

Note 4 Microphone Icon Won’t Go Away

Problem: I’ve had the phone a few months but the following problem has begun occurring over past 2-3 weeks: when I click on the mic icon to voice text and  voice email, the window that pops up that says to speak or gives you ability to turn the mic on and off will sometimes not close when I tap the close icon at top right corner of the window. It will block half my screen  no matter which one I try to go to. Only way to resolve has been to turn phone on and off to reboot it. I have a copy of a screenshot of the problem if that would help you understand what I’m describing I’m seeing…just give me an email address to send it to. Thanks guys!in a group text I get them 15 to 45 min. Later and a out of order.

Solution: This is a bug caused by a recent update to the Google App app in your phone. Restarting your phone will resolve this issue however it is not a practical solution since you will have to restart your phone constantly every time the mic icon freezes. A better approach is to uninstall the update of the Google App app from your phone. You should also uninstall the update for the Google Text-to-Speech Engine app. Just update both apps when a new update arrives that addresses this issue.

Note 4 Delay In Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Not receiving text messages for hours then phone flooding with messages.

Solution: One of the main causes of a delay in getting text messages is your network. If the signal is spotty in your area then expect a delay in receiving text messages.

Sometimes you also need to refresh your phone connection to your network to get messages on time. To refresh your phone connection just restart your phone.

Another cause of text message delay is corrupt data in your phone. If this is the case then you should clear the cache and data of your messaging app. You should also wipe the cache partition of your phone.
