PSA: The HTC One A9 is the first non-CDMA phone to support Verizon’s networks

HTC One A9

The #HTC #OneA9 smartphone has just been revealed by the Taiwanese manufacturer with top American carriers already announcing availability as well. A new revelation has now found that the smartphone will also be compatible with Verizon Wireless‘ networks, which effectively makes this the first non-CDMA handset to support Big Red in the U.S.

The handset already comes with a bundle of perks and the fact that the unlocked model can work just fine with Verizon’s networks makes it a very attractive proposition for many. It is said that compatibility with Verizon’s networks will be switched on in the form of a software update soon after the One A9 hits the markets in early November, so the handset won’t be compatible right out of the box.

Another caveat here is that the smartphone will need a pre-activated CDMA SIM card to work, which means you will need to activate a device and then add the SIM on the One A9 for this arrangement to work. While it sounds complicated in theory, there’s no denying that this is a big landmark for HTC in making a non-CDMA device compatible with a network like Verizon Wireless.
