#GooglePlayMusic is used by millions of #Android users on a regular basis. But if there’s one feature missing from Google’s primary music player, it’s Podcasts. But according to a post on the official Google blog, that’s about to change soon. The Mountain View giant has just announced the support for Podcasts on its standalone music player, with podcasters now able to upload their content online at g.co/podcastportal.
Regular users still can’t access Play Music Podcasts, but it seems like it will soon be opened for all. Google mentions how curated content will be on offer, much like the Play Music app, so users get access to content that is meant specifically for them. As of now, Google has teamed with HowStuffWorks, HBO, Public Radio International and many others for this new service.
This is certainly a step in the right direction and will hopefully negate the need to look for a standalone podcast app on Android. It’s not known at this point if the feature will be exclusive to the paid members of Google Play Music or all Android users.
