Note 4 Text Messages Goes To Laptop

Problem: My text messages from my note 4 are going straight to my Dell laptop. Need to stop them as to there are people that borrow my laptop and they can read my personal things.

Solution: Are you using Hangouts or a third party messaging app as the default SMS app for your phone? If you are and the app has a desktop companion then you will most likely also get the text message in your laptop.

What you need to do is to try using the stock messaging app of your phone. If you are using the stock messaging app and the messages still appear on your laptop then there must be a link between your phone and the laptop. This could either be using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Find out what the link is and disconnect it.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Messages From One Number

Problem: I have the note 4 with sprint and my wife has a note 4 with T Mobile and I get texts from here but she can not get texts from me. She is the one that I have that problem with.

Solution: Have your wife check her spam setting list and make sure your number is not included in the list. It may have been placed there accidentally. To access the spam list go to the Messages app – click on the more options ( three vertical dots) – click on settings – click on spam filter – make sure it is disabled.

If your number is not in the spam list then double check if she is not getting any messages from you or from others as well. Have her start her phone in Safe Mode then send her a text message. If your message is received then the problem may be caused by a third party app installed in her phone. You will need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Another factor than can cause this issue is problems between the interconnection of T-Mobile and Sprint. To verify if this is the cause you should contact both of your networks and inquire on this matter.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Message

Problem: Me and my wife have been using messaging plus but I’ve tried to switch to others but end up back to plus. The reason is it’s the only app that I can receive text from her. But she can receive them from me no matter what texting app I use. Also she is the only one I have this issue with. Help please.

Solution: This is definitely a tricky issue. Try checking if you have accidentally included your wife’s number in your phone spam list.

To verify if this problem is not caused by an app you installed you should start your phone in Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode use the stock text messaging app of your phone then have your wife send you a message. If you can receive the message then the problem is most likely cause by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding with this.

Note 4 Keyboard Freezes When Texting

Problem: When texting my keyboard will freeze up and go grey. Have to wait 30 seconds before will let me start typing again. Just did a factory reset and still does it. Very frustrating. Is there anything i can do? Thank you

Solution: If the problem still occurs right after a factory reset then try wiping the cache partition of your phone. You should also start your phone in Safe Mode and check if the keyboard still freezes in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app may be causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Message From iPhone

Problem: I am not able to receive text messages from two of my friends who have iPhones.  They can receive my texts but I cannot receive theirs.  I have multiple friends who have iPhones that I can receive texts from fine.  Only these two friends have the problem.  Don’t know if it is my phone or theirs that is causing the problem.  I have never had an iPhone.

Solution: If you haven’t had an iPhone or have not registered your number to iMessage then the problem may be with the iPhones of your two friends. Have them delete your message thread in their phones and have them send you a new SMS message. You should also make sure that their numbers are not included in the spam list of your phone.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Messages Unless Restarted

Problem: I have a problem where my text messages will all disappear and not be able to receive any again till I restart my phone. After a restart all the messages will come back and everything will work again. It does this sporadically but happens more and more often and I don’t notice until I need to send a text. Then I realize I’ve been off grid for several hours. Help me.

Solution: You will need to make sure first that this is not a network related issue. Check your phone and make sure that it has a good signal reception. You should also check if the problem occurs in only one area or in other areas you go to.

Once you have verified that the network is not causing this problem the next step is to check your phone software. In cases such as this it is usually the software that’s causing the problem. Start by wiping the cache partition of your phone. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device and if some of the data are already corrupt then this may be causing the problem.

You should also verify if a third party app installed in your phone is causing this problem. To check on this you should start your phone in Safe Mode. Once in this mode check if the issue persists. If it doesn’t then it’s most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

As a last resort you should also consider doing a factory reset using the hardware keys. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this procedure.
