BlackBerry’s first #Android smartphone, known as the #Priv can now be pre-ordered in the U.S. for $699 from the company’s official site. This seems like a decent price for a device that is bringing state-of-the-art hardware in a unique slider form factor.
The handset comes unlocked of course and will be compatible with a wide array of 4G LTE bands, so you can be assured of finding compatibility with the GSM carrier of your choice. The Priv supports LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 20, 29 and 30, so you’re covered as far as network frequencies are concerned.
The handset comes with a massive 5.43 inch 2560 x 1440 display, the hexa core Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 2TB), 3,410 mAh battery and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The highlight of the smartphone obviously is the keyboard, which also doubles as a scrollable touchpad. This is very helpful while browsing web pages or other content on your smartphone.
So clearly, there is quite a bit of innovation on offer here, but only time will tell if the company will be able to convince customers of the Priv’s potential, considering how much they’re asking for it.
