Note 4 Camera Focus Not Working Unless Phone Is Shaken
Problem: Have to shake camera to get it to focus before taking pictures it won’t adjust otherwise
Related Problem: I bought this phone two weeks ago. Most of the time the camera is out of focus. I’ve tried resetting it to the original settings but it isn’t helping
Solution: Several other owners of this phone are also complaining about the rear camera not focusing. While this is not a widespread issue it still needs to be addressed properly as the camera of this phone is one of its main features.
The first thing you need to do is to inspect the camera lens and see if it has some dirt or grime. If the lens has some foreign particles on it then the camera may focus on this instead of the subject you are going to shoot. If necessary clean the lens with a microfiber cloth or lens cleaning paper which you can get at any camera specialty store.
Once you have made sure that the lens is clean the next step is to check the camera app. Sometimes this app may carry some corrupt cached data. Try clearing the cache and data of your camera app and see if this resolves the problem. You should also try using a third party camera app and check if the issue also occurs while using the app.
If the problem persists proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. This clears out the temporary system data of your phone which may be corrupt and is causing this problem.
If at this point you are still having the same issue then I recommend you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 4 Camera Opens Randomly
Problem: Camara turn on when walking or when I gather a phone call or get an alarm the phone camera turn on and I can’t answer the call or turn off the alarm is so a noting losing calls I have call many times to the carrier but they can’t fix it. I will appreciate if you please tell me how to fix this issue.
Solution: First, make sure that the camera is indeed turning on on its own and not turning on because of accidentally pressing the camera shortcut. Set your phone to alarm after 5 minutes then place your phone on top of the table Once the alarm goes off and the camera activates then proceed with the troubleshooting below.
Start by clearing the cache and data of your camera app to eliminate any problem caused by the cached data of the app.
Sometimes the cached system data can also cause this issue so it’s best to wipe the cache partition of your phone as well.
If the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Camera Photos Disappear
Problem: When I take a picture, then click on the gallery to view the picture I get image not found then the picture disappears.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to clear the cache and data of your camera app then follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone. Check if the issue still persists.
Do you have a microSD card and are you using this card as the default location for storing the photos and videos taken by your camera? If you are using a microSD card then this may be causing the problem especially if it is faulty. Try changing the default storage location to the internal storage of your phone and see if this resolves the problem. If the problem goes away then I suggest you get a new microSD card.
If however you are using the internal storage of your phone to store the photos and videos then try to start your phone in Safe Mode to check if a third party app installed in your phone is causing the problem. Take a picture and check if the picture still disappears. If the issue does not occur then it’s most likely caused by an app you installed. You need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however the issue persists even in Safe Mode then go ahead and back up your phone ata and do a factory reset.
Note 4 Turns Off When Using The Camera
Problem: While using Camera, the phone shuts off after taking just few pics and won’t start until it is either connected with the charger or battery is pulled out and re-inserted. It happens with all camera related applications and with no other app.
Solution: In most issues similar to this the main culprit is the battery. Since the camera of the phone uses a considerable amount of power then the phone battery mustn’t have a problem. If for example the phone battery is already faulty then it may lead to this type of issue.
Before replacing the camera battery try to check first if this is a software related problem by performing the steps listed below. Move to the next step in the list if the problem still persists.
- clear the cache and data of the camera app
- wipe the cache partition of your phone
- back up your phone data and do a factory reset
If at this point you the phone still has the same issue then I suggest you get a new battery.
Note 4 Camera Closes On Its Own
Problem: Often when I open my camera, it closes back. Usually I have to reopen the camera about 10 times before it stays open long enough to take a picture. Most times I’ve missed the event I was trying to photograph.
Solution: A camera that closes on its is a sign that the software may have an issue. Try clearing the cache and data of the camera app and see if this solves the issue. If the problem persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone. As a last resort if both troubleshooting steps fail you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 4 Camera Pictures Disappear
Problem: The pics I had in my camera are gone. They just disappeared, they are still in my Google back up photos but not in my gallery I took it to the Verizon store they do not know what happened either can u help?
Solution: Verify first if this issue is caused by a security app that is hiding your photos. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the default apps are allowed to run while the apps that you downloaded are disabled. Once your phone is in Safe Mode check if you can view your photos.
Once you have verified that the issue is not caused by an app the next steps is to check if the problem is caused by corrupted data in your phone. To do this you should wipe the cache partition of your phone then check if you can view your photos.
This issue is also prevalent if you are using a microSD card and your photos are stored in this card. Once the card becomes faulty your photos will disappear. Try using a new card, take some photos, then check if the photos are stored properly in the card.
