#Qualcomm has just announced the latest Quick Charge 3.0 standard for a range of its upcoming chipsets, which would allow devices to be charged significantly faster than before.
According to the company, smartphones running the supported chipsets can be charged 0-80% in about 35 minutes using this new technology. This is a significant improvement over Quick Charge 2.0 and will be a welcome addition for the customers.
Unfortunately, none of the current crop of smartphones will be compatible as Quick Charge 3.0 is limited to the Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617 and 430 platforms. But we can seek solace in the fact that most upcoming Android smartphones and tablets will support the feature out of the box.
While the Snapdragon 820 is making it to the news quite frequently, the Snapdragon 617, 618 and the 620 will replace the Snapdragon 610 in midrange devices next year. The Snapdragon 430 will be a strictly budget only offering from the looks of it. Are you excited for Quick Charge 3.0?
