Budget ranged ZTE ZMAX 2 launching via AT&T on September 25

#ZTE has just announced the arrival of the #ZMAX2 smartphone which is a successor to last year’s ZMAX. This time, the smartphone will be sold through AT&T and TracFone (a subsidiary of América Móvil) with T-Mobile not in the mix. As you’ve probably guessed by now, this is a budget smartphone and will not set you back by much.

The ZMAX 2 comes with a 5.5 inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable), a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 5.1 Lollipop. Surprisingly, ZTE hasn’t specified the chipset running under the hood. But since the predecessor was packing the Snapdragon 400 SoC, it’s fair to assume that there will be a Snapdragon 410 here.

The price tag of $149.99 is the real highlight here, which makes it one of the cheapest offerings going around. The handset will be officially available for purchase starting September 25, which is this Friday.

Any takers for the ZTE ZMAX 2 on AT&T and TracFone?

  1. I really like this phone. I’m upgrading from the LG L41C Ultimate 2. It’s faster, has a huge screen, is bright, has a great camera, etc. I can now read online articles on this phone! It’s awesome. Plus it still fits in my pocket. Barely, but it fits. It also get better wireless coverage than my other phones. Data coverage is about the same. The only issue I have with this phone is AFTER taking on the ATT Software update. It messes with the HOME SCREENS. It doesn’t want to add new icons to the home screen, folders literally disappear, shortcuts to my apps disappear randomly with reboots. I know it’s the ATT Software Update because after working with Tracfone and doing a factory reset multiple times, I returned the phone to Best Buy for a replacement. The new phone set up so easily I was shocked. 3 hrs and I was back with the phone being exactly as I wanted complete with my folders and the related shortcuts in each on my home screens. It was great! Then this morning, ATT Software Update ran… and now… missing icons, missing folders, phone wants to lock when adding shortcuts to my home screen, etc. I’m really upset. I did some reading and found a reference that apps moved to the SD card may be the issue. I use All-In-One app to move my programs to the SD card last night, so… maybe that’s it. I moved all the apps back today. So now I have to figure out how to get my apps moved to the SD card without them disappearing. 🙂 If though, this is my only real issue with this phone… then I’m all in. I bought the phone for only $129 with free shipping. For a higher end phone (compared to all other Tracfone’s ive used) this is wonderful! The thing I like most… being able to read articles on this phone now, the screen is a really nice size… and it still fits in my pocket. Just barely.
