BlackBerry Priv confirmed by company CEO, will focus on privacy

BlackBerry Venice

The CEO of #BlackBerry, John Chen has officially confirmed plans to release an #Android powered handset. Only yesterday, we learnt that the device would be known as the #Priv which he managed to confirm as well. As expected, the name is based on the privacy features that BlackBerry is planning to bundle with the device.

Chen said – “Today, I am confirming our plans to launch Priv, an Android device named after BlackBerry’s heritage and core mission of protecting our customers’ privacy. Priv combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform.

It’s good to see that the company has officially confirmed the release of the handset, which will put a rest to rumors and speculations once and for all. However, the CEO failed to offer concrete details on its availability although we know that the handset will arrive later this year.

  1. I am excited to see what they come up with. I still love the idea of aa REAL keyboard, I LOVED my Palm Treo and have missed the keyboard ever since I have up that phone. We have been Samsung fan’s since the dawn of their smartphones, but with the lack of extra storage in their last SEVERAL flagships, we will be looking elsewhere when we decide to upgrade if they don’t get their act together. Also, their waterproof phones are really nice too. I have an extra battery for my phone, and I’ll tell you, it’s lighter than a charger and an instant 100 % battery without a cord. Super handy when traveling! So hopefully BB will include that feature too. But, since the other phones are ditching the removable battery, BB probably will too.
